So I'm freaking out because I'm going into my last year in community college where I'm pursuing an Associates in Science, then I'm applying to a university (majoring in Applied Psychology) where the minimum GPA is 2.5 and middle 50% GPA for admitted students have 3.1 - 3.7 (2014/2015). I stand at a 2.9 but I calculated my gpa in 2As and 2Bs in both semesters and I'd end at a 3.1 & all As at a 3.3 so I'm stressing out that I won't get accepted. Do you have any advice on what to do or not stress?
The reality of applying to college is that you aren’t guaranteed to be accepted at any particular school you apply to, and that’s just something you have to deal with and plan accordingly. It is also important to remember when considering the middle 50% of students’ GPAs for this particular school, that means 25% of admits had lower than a 3.1. If you can pull yourself up to above a 3.0, I would definitely say your chances will be increased substantially, but you are still on the lower end of accepted GPAs.
My advice is to have a couple backup schools that you like. I know it’s hard to think about going anywhere other than your dream school (it certainly was for me when I wasn’t accepted to the school I wanted to go to) but if you can find some backup schools that you like too, you’ll feel much less anxious about your admission status at this school.
