I’ve been playing around with my BeautyCounter starter set products this week – as well as sending out my first round of samples to interested friends – so I figured I’d tak…
So... I’m kind of a beauty blogger now.
No, this Tumblr will not suddenly become all about the skincare stuff I sell or the beauty things I write about. It does mean that my Instagram (same as my URL) will be dominated by makeup stuff and I’ll probably promote my posts here sometimes (like this).
It does mean I’m trying to make money by blogging and selling the makeup stuff I’m trying though. Which honestly is way more entertaining than any other opportunities available to me at the moment. I’ve spent the last year crawling through burn out and kind of realized today that...what I thought I wanted from my career isn’t what I want anymore.
I don’t want to write things for other people. I don’t want to fix their websites for shit pay when in reality I should be able to get away with charging them something fair for both parties. I’m not putting $100/hour worth of effort into $15/hour projects anymore. I refuse. I can’t take it. It’s not making me happy. It’s ruining my life.
So I’m doing this instead. And it would mean the world to me if you guys share my blog around with anyone you know who’s interested in beauty blogging type stuff. I like interacting with a self-built community and producing content (like fandom). I would love to get to the point where I can move out into an apartment with better internet and expand this whole idea into youtube tutorials and whatnot.
Plus, the sooner I’m actually financially stable, the sooner I have time to write for fun, instead of for people who are getting off cheap while I struggle to pay my credit card off when I’m living off of it half the time.
So - if this sort of thing interests you, I’d be honored to have your support. I also plan to use my “legit” blog as the means to talk about subjects aside from cosmetics that interest me. Like writing advice, psychology, nerdy things, etc. If there’s an audience willing to read it, I’m happy to write about it (for the most part).
Anyway, please check out my blog, and if you’re interested in learning more about BeautyCounter, either hit me up via the contact form on the blog or message me on Tumblr. I’m not gonna go off on a sales pitch here because that’s just kinda lame - right? But if you’re interested, I’m happy to share my experiences with their products so far and I can send you a sample pack.
Thanks guys. Love you <3 Maybe by the end of the year I’ll actually be able to write for fun again, huh?
P.S. Seriously no pressure on this. I’m just using the existing audiences I have to my advantage for exposure purposes. Please don’t feel pressured to buy anything off me if you aren’t genuinely interested in BeautyCounter’s products or aren’t in a position financially to do so.
