It would be really cool if Laudna overcoming/eliminating Delilah for good (matt. matt. don't do it to us. don't bring her into campaign 4 she needs to R O T please i beg. this has been awesome though) was sort of an individual trial. i'm thinking in line with Ashton, which while he had help from Fearne, was a test of his own will and strength.
Thinking on it though, this entire time Delilah has been a manipulator, especially without Silas and his charm abilities. She's on her own. She's been chipping away at Laudna as best she can with the stone, the fear, consistently stating if she dies then Laudna dies. The latter without providing a concrete way of demonstrating that because why would she that's a scary thought to think that the woman who tortured you, ruined a city and it's people, is the only reason you could remain alive once again. That's not even an exhaustive list, lol. The best thing to do when someone has a strong support system is to do everything you can to get them out of it. There's a lot of abuse dynamics and themes here imo.
I can't help but gravitate to a scenario where everyone in Bells Hells gets to chop away at her until her final bits of soul are eradicated. Laudna's not just what she was in her past, but the life she's been able to lead since. Maybe Delilah was the one who'd given her the spark of life again. There's no singularity to life. You don't exist in it on your own. Laudna finally has friends, maybe even a family but aside from Imogen I hesitate to say she'd consider all of them that quite yet. Delilah might have given her her abilities, but she's not the thing that brings her true strength.
But then there's Evontra'vir and them all discussing the lines of fate. Who's to say that Delilah's purpose is not to bring life to Laudna who'd help prevent the destruction of the gods, and once she's served her purpose they'll uncover a way to sever her bond with Laudna? Or Laudna will be bestowed another power like Imogen suggested for saving the gods that will smite her from existence? ??? IDK MAN but considering the possibilities is fun
