Nev’s Live Performances on Launchpad
While there are a few piece of DJ gear that are responsible for shifting the entire way we look at DJing and music production – there are only a few pieces of gear that are basically responsible for starting people’s careers. The Novation Launchpad is one of those devices. A couple of years back, a young producer by the name of Madeon showed off what he was capable of when he spliced hundreds of songs into a single pop song using the first person view camera. The best part about this story is that Madeon was never a celebrity to begin with. He was just a kid who took some gear and made it work to his liking. Today, there are only a handful of producers out there who have the skills to create basically the same thing. The hats off really goes to Novation, for creating a piece of gear that is both exceptional and inexpensive at the same time. Rest assured, there will be no performances of this caliber being made with only a Rane 64 on hand – it really takes a lot of prep work to create something like this – and it is not easy at all. http://www.djtechtools.com/2013/12/30/routine-nevs-tetris-performance-on-launchpad/
Make the next Virus and win with M4SONIC and Novation
Nothing sells quite as well as making something look easy when it really is not. This tends to be the case for many Novation Launchpad users who got sucked into the idea that they can be just as good as the pros out there. Watch any of these videos and you’ll see one man who has control over a library or one shot samples and sounds. This person seems to know where everything is on the board, almost as if it were a piano with keys that relate to their notes. In truth, a small 10 minute performance probably takes days and weeks to master. I think the bigger picture here is explored when you really take a look at what is going on. These performers do not have the advantage of using gear that costs thousands of dollars – they are using consumer level midi controllers that can be found in the store or second hand market at a few hundred dollars a pop. When they take something basic and create a masterpiece out of it, this is what gets the audiences running to the store. It could be any controller and any musician doing the same thing. http://djworx.com/make-next-virus-win-m4sonic-novation/#.UwvKhfldW1A
