Laundry anon here. I live in the Caribbean. Everyone I know has machines at home or just wash by hand. Never seen a laundromat. That seems like an awful lot of work, having to lug heavy baskets to wherever. Not to mention, pulling out dirty underwear in public. What if someone stops your load and does something creepy to it? Eeh.
The Caribbean? Wow, where in particular? That, first of all, is frigging awesome.
Yeah, laundromats are a pretty typical thing here. A lot of our apartments/houses don’t have the room for a washer and dryer or we ourselves don’t have enough money to purchase either or both units. Some people have laundry in their building, in the basement usually, but they still have to pay to use it. It’s kind of a status thing I guess, haha: you know you’re at a good financial place in your life when you have your own washing machine lol. My basket is fabric and it’s collapsible so it’s not that bad to drag around, and I have an extra laundry bag if it gets too heavy. My underwear strategy would be to grab as many as possible and shove them in, but there’s really no point since everyone can see them tumbling around when they’re in the machine. And you can’t stop a load once it’s in. The door locks and doesn’t unlock until the cycle’s finished, so no creepiness. :) Sometimes there are creepy people, but mostly it’s just men who have never done their own laundry before and are really confused and either ask me for help or break their machine with too much soap. XD
And there you have the American laundromat, Caribbean anon. Take me to the Caribbean so I can sit on a beach and air dry my clothes, haha.
