I was gonna do this all for Laura, but wow she doesn’t actually have any negative relationships that are worth talking about. Vauge bullies from childhood don’t really matter anymore, so Lemon got that prompt :D Sidenote how did I make the daughter of a bard and a sea demon the most well adjusted character I have???

Lemon Describes Her Mother

“You know I thought describing my mother would be easier then this but she’s just an awful person. I hate her. She is a snake of a woman who is so caught up in appearances and money and breaking into high society she doesn’t care who she hurts. She uses people. She uses me. I think she even tricked my father into marrying her but no one will actually tell me anything about how they met-mother certainly won’t and it’s not as if my father is around to ask! She’s….she’s awful. I can’t recall a single instance of her being kind without some ulterior motive.”

Laura’s Birthday

“So mom only really gets to come visit me and dad once a year right, and of course it’s on my birthday. We all spend the day together, she and dad spend the night together, and we all say goodbye in the morning. One year dad woke me up and told me they had a surprise for me. He led me down to this huge sea cave and mom was reclining in the shallows right by a huge picnic set up. Everything I’d ever told dad I liked to eat was on the blanket, and there was more then enough for all three of us. I had so much fun watching dad try to explain to mom what all the food was and mom’s face when she tasted grape jelly made me laugh so hard I snorted pudding right out of my nose. She just looked so confused! Safe to say she hates jelly now. Anyway mom and I went for a swim while dad cleaned up the picnic and she just sort of curled around me and started to hum. Dad joined us after a minute or so and I’ve never felt safer or more loved by them. I know mom can’t be with us all the time so I really cherish what time we do get together.”

Like Real People Do: Part One

The Storm: A man discovers why ships aren’t all lively sea shanties and late night drinking, meets his future wife, and strikes a bargin. 

“Mr. Muir, I believe you may actually stand a chance. You’re hardly even green anymore,” the helmsmen, a tall elf by the name of Zeprobru said with a grin not an hour before the storm truly picked up. Zeprobru was wrong. He was never supposed to be here.  Despite living in a coastal town his entire life, he’d never been on a ship. To no one’s surprise but his own he’d entirely romanticized life on a shipping rig, and though he was hired on as a docker he’d spent more time retching over the railing and stumbling around the deck then doing his job. He’d only been kept on because his songs were entertaining, and he kept morale high. Plus he was nearly a better cook then the one they’d hired. The crew still made fun of him, still stumbling around the ship a week into the voyage. Never going to get his sea legs they said. Clearly he wasn’t meant to be on the water at all, and now he’s paying for his foolishness by falling head first off of the deck into the stormy surge below. Someone above him screamed, and the sound was quickly swallowed by the waves below. Instantly he was sent spinning, the water pushing him deeper and deeper into the dark unknown depths as he fought to reach the surface. His lungs burned with every breath he held back, and his limbs felt like stone dragging him down. Something flashed above him. A fire? Was the ship set ablaze? Something, a whale maybe, wailed loud enough his eardrums rang even under the water. Dolphins sometimes saved sailors in the stories. Was that sound from a dolphin? A dark shape, massive in size with white glowing dots in an arching row, moved towards him in the dark. Two large glowing gold eyes settled on him, moving so fast towards him he could barely keep up. Those eyes settled barely a foot in front of him and suddenly the water was swirling around him, draining away and he gasped as air rushed back into his lungs. Dolphins could not do whatever magic this was.  

“Human. You live,” a deep voice rumbled from the air around him as he choked on air. Somehow the creature had created a bubble or sorts around him, the water was strangely solid beneath him, but still moving gently, like the current had been tamed and twisted into a bubble encasing him from the storm outside. The white glowing spots on the creature brightened, lighting up the churning depths around it. It was truly massive, nearly twenty feet in length, and somewhere between a human and a shark but decidedly less human. A familiar holy symbol rested around the beasts neck, a thick woven rope with dozens of skeletal hands clutching the braid. Followers of the Queen of the Depths believed that the hands of drowned people were a powerful symbol, and he could remember seeing a few dangerous looking women back home wearing them in a similar fashion. This however, was much more powerful than those women could ever hope to be. A Dread Wavemistress, if the arch of their muscled waist was an indication. A fiend who served the Queen directly. He was suddenly thankful he’d listened to so many sailors tales of the horrors of the deep instead of only the joys. Perhaps he stood a chance. 

“Thanks to you, I believe. Who may I thank for this gentle reprieve from violent death?” he coughed, attempting to straighten his back and keep his gaze respectfully just to the side of their shining eyes.  

“The Great Dread,” they rumbled. The water around him shook each time they spoke, and if he wasn’t mistaken the bubble was slowly growing smaller.

“My thanks to you then, Great Dread. I wonder if I may plead to further impose upon your mercy. I am certain you have very little need of me, but perhaps there is still something I may offer,” he asked. He bowed deeply, as much as he could properly kneeling in a bubble. The creature rumbled, and he took it as assent to attempt his deal. “If the stories are to be believed, a drowning man’s hand is stronger the more times he’s managed to escape from death. You have saved me once now, though as a child I also nearly drowned. Three is a powerful number, if those tales have any truth in them, so I request that if I am to die you give me one more chance. A third time to escape from drowning, and then you may take my breath. Surely a man thrice drowned will create a stronger piece for your collection.” 

“You suggest I let you go?” 

“I suggest you allow me to fight for my life. If I drown, then you will have my hands. If I do escape I promise to stay by the shore, and in a year and a day I will walk myself into the ocean,” he said, still bowing deeply. The bubble had gotten smaller, and even if he’d wanted to look up he didn’t have the room. The creature was silent. Water trickled down his neck, streams of it coming into the bubble now and he flinched at the cold shock. 

“I will be watching you. Always. Do not go back on your promise to me, human,” the creature nearly hissed. Water rushed in and he gasped one last mouthful of air before the cold surrounded him again. He pushed against the waves, rising to the surface slowly, bubbles rushing past him and lights still flashing above the water. His vision began to dim and his limbs felt twice as heavy as before and his lungs were burning and then nothing.

Okay this is long so I'm just gonna put a Read More here so it doesn't clutter people's dash. Also this took forever to transfer from my notebook to here >,> Sooner or later I’ll get the other prompts I’ve already written on the computer. 

ZIMRI: The OG Hoebag - Also going to do Modern AU her since that’s the least complicated most fun one. 

4. Favorite non-sexual activity

Going on walks with her girlfriends, cuddling in bed, or stealing kisses while one of them is cooking. Zimri loves showing off her partners, but also prefers their attention to be on one of them, so it’s a fun game for her to find different ways to keep their attention on each other or herself. 

6. Favorite feature of their partners?

For Ra’d it’s her neck, shoulders, and chest. For Kerri it’s her jawline, arms, and thighs. Also both of their eyes and mouths. Zimri is really just a fuckin fool for both of them. They walk in the room and she immediately looks at them. 

7. What's the first thing that changes when they realize they have feelings for the other?

Thankfully modernAU Zimri has significantly less problems than canon Zimri, so as soon as she realizes her feelings for Ra’d aren’t just “holy shit she’s hot” Zimri starts to give her a ton of gifts and blatantly flirts. It still takes forever for Ra’d to realize Zimri is flirting. 

If I remember right they met Kerri in a bar. Zimri hit on Kerri first because “wow she’s hot AND funny? Ra’d can we take her home please?”, but Kerri didn’t think she was serious at first, so Zimri threw Ra’d at her to explain. Ra’d cannot lie, so Kerri is Convinced. Kerri also gets a ton of gifts and when they all move in together Zimri routinely steals bits of clothing or accessories so they match. 

12. Who initiates kisses?

Zimri is more of a boob/thigh grabber, but she’s very physically affectionate overall so she would encourage the girls to kiss her.

2. Big spoon/Little spoon?

All spoons, though since they’re mostly on a ship it’s hard fitting more than two people in a bunk/hammock. She does lean to the jetpack style with larger partners and big spoon with smaller, but is mostly just happy to be with them. 

6. Favorite feature of their partners?

Vaska’s is her back, arms, and hair. Grusha is her soft tummy and thighs. Hallafax is her eyes, hands, and just her skin in general is so lovely. 

8. Nicknames? If so, how did they originate?

Laura uses very boring nicknames tbh. Her father is a bard (one of the bardiest considering he seduced a literal sea demon out of a contract for his soul and got a baby and a demon wife out of it) but she sure isn’t. Vaska tends to be lovely, Grusha sweetness, and Hallafax darling. 

13. Who reaches for the other's hand first?

Laura is so damn soft but is always a little nervous about her hands. She has little paw pad texture on her palms and the tips of her fingers, and sharp claws she keeps filed down, so she’s a little self conscious of her hands. Though she is the first to play with someone’s hair, or try to spin someone into a dance.

3. Most common argument?

Pre figuring out their nonsense it’s the back and forth of “Would you stop using misty step and jUST LET ME EXPLAIN MY PLAN YOU MIGHT LIKE IT” and Eilidh just “>:P” and poofing away. After that it's who gets to top. Just two switches vying for the top. 

6. Favorite feature of their partners?

Amaryllis is just so interested in Eilidh’s tattoos, and her skin in general is just such a lovely shade of blue. She also has very nice arms that are totally not distracting at all. 

10. Who remembers what the other one always orders at a restaurant?

Amaryllis remembers Eilidh’s order, and Eilidh tries but her girlfriend's order is long and complicated. 

20. What do their family/friends think of their relationship?

Her father thinks the whole thing is honestly godsent. Her grandmother is mostly relieved they didn’t kill each other. They both privately think that without Eilidh, their girl would have lost herself in the persona of the Lion Empress, and become more violent and vicious as a result.

Singing or playing music for her girls, or bathing with them. Let her take care of them in any way and she’s thrilled.

Koyla is all of her lovely hair, her hands, and tongue. Vaathu is her skin, chest, and arms. Magpie is her ears, thighs, and the dip in between her collarbone and breasts. 

16. Who wants to stay in bed just a little longer?

As a filthy noble it is her nature to lounge, and doing so with the lovely creatures she’s so taken with is an event she prefers to draw out for as long as possible. 

21. Who is more likely to start dancing with the other?

If they will let her, she will absolutely spin them around the room the moment something inspires her. The sun glinting just so off of Koyla’s fur, Vaathu in profile with the open sky behind her, anytime Magpie uses her wit to create new inspiration, all of it.

Amaryllis 🍑What sort of traits does your OC look for in a Significant Other? The caveat here being she only loves two people, so this is mostly just why she fell in love with those two people lol. She’s had fwb before, but Zadok and Eilidh/Sterling are the only two people she has romantic feelings for. The Lion Empress - Stability first, and someone who can make her smile second. Zadok fills both of these roles, as her oldest childhood friend and right hand general. The person she chooses to start courting, the ever charming Sterling, she chose because of how easy it is to smile around her. While she may not be a constant like Zadok, she is a genuine joy to interact with. Though once she’s revealed to be Amaryllis’ enemy the Boar, her feelings are much more complicated. Modern Reincarnation AU - Amaryllis fell in love with Zadok as naturally as breathing, their presence calming and steady and constant. She loves their humor, and how they can command a room or blend into the background. Eilidth was somehow easier and harder to fall for. When Amaryllis saw her she just Knew. Eilidh pushes her in a way Zadok doesn’t, but cushions the fall with her humor and the little things she does to show she cares. Like making coffee for them in the morning, helping around the flower shop, etc. 🍻What's your OC's favorite comfort ritual? How do they calm themselves down after a rough day? The Lion Empress - After long hours spent in war meetings, dealing with the remaining nobility and explaining to them that no you cannot tax my subjects this harshly, no you may not do this or that, Amaryllis can often be found in the courtyard garden tending to her tea plants. She is joined by Zadok on the days they are available, her father or grandmother when they have the time, or by herself on especially rough nights when she cannot sleep. Getting her hands in the earth and working the soil soothes her in ways nothing else can. Modern Reincarnation AU - Even after spending hours cutting and arranging flowers, Amaryllis winds down by spending an hour or so on her bonsai trees. She also enjoys taking the time to prepare tea blends for her loved ones, testing and retesting the blends until they suit their tastes perfectly. 🍟What does your OC admit to be their guilty pleasure? What actually is their guilty pleasure? The Lion Empress - The arts as a whole really. The Lion Empress persona she crafted to successfully raise her army and take the throne is calculating, ruthless, and while she may give her subjects enough to live in comfort, they saw what she did to the nobles who did not conform. Crying at an especially moving performance isn’t really a great way to keep up that image. She loves wandering art galleries or museums, listening in on musicians in taverns or auditoriums. Modern Reincarnation AU - Trashy reality TV, specifically things like The Housewives of _. She and Zadok grew up encased in old old money, so rich people drama playing out on screen with silly edits and memes is the height of entertainment for her.

Daffodil 🍎Do they share any features or traits with any family members? She and her mother really only share the same pointed ears and violet eyes, but other than that she looks very similar to her father! Her father was tall and lean, fair of both hair and skin, with big dark eyes. They studied the same sword style, and with the two of them in full armor side by side it would be very hard to tell them apart! I like to think if she did find her mother, she would know Daffodil was her child based on how she fights. Daffodil shares her mother’s love of adventure and her fathers love of music and poetry. 🍰What's something your OC counts as unforgivable? Damaging one of her muses or sources of inspiration. Though her muses are lucky in that sense because she values them all above inspirational trinkets so if Magpie sold one, or in Koyla’s enthusiasm she broke one Daffodil wouldn’t care. At that point her muse is creating inspiration for her, and the sacrifice was necessary. She does wish the girls would stop stealing her family's spoons though. 🍩What's a crime your OC is most likely to commit? What's a crime they're most likely to get arrested for? To be honest probably just murder. I know that’s common with adventuring types but it’s true. Daffodil has some minor to major yandere tendencies with her muses, and if someone goes out of their way to be cruel to any of them Daffodil is fairly likely to come back for them at a later point to take care of the issue. I’m not sure if the others know about it though, since it is fairly common for her to wander off from the group to gather some extra bits of inspiration before returning to them. She would actually be arrested for breaking and entering, most likely getting caught up in one of her architect's schemes.

Laura 🍹Does your OC have any funny anecdotes told about them? Laura is hilariously enough my most normal, well adjusted character. Most of her funny anecdotes have to do with her just being generally sassy, charming, or occasionally talking shit about nobility. The only in-game sass I have is from when she was sassing Livianna, a blue dragonborn noble my friend played in a oneshot I dm-ed where their ship was transporting a statue and a cult came after it.

Laura: “Ahh a noble then? This will be fun. Nobles tie knots in private, yes?” Livianna:”I don’t like your tone” Vaska Sharkskin stifles a laugh. “Great tone.” Laura: “Well I don't have another voice, so we'll go with this one yeh? Sailor, how about you show her how to secure herself in case we do hit hard waters?”

🍍Where does your OC feel most comfortable? Floating in the ocean with her Papa and giant sea demon Mama curled around them, watching her Papa telling stories in his tavern while she’s tending bar, snuggling Pup, or in a hammock either under or on top of one of her girlfriends. She especially enjoys curling up with Hallifax because her scales are so nice to gently rub while she winds down.

🍉Does your OC have a particular piece of jewelry that they always wear or refuse to part with? We talked at one point about Laura braiding bracelets from locks of all of her girlfriends hair and a couple scales from Hallifax for them to wear. It’s a sort of charm to bring them back together no matter where they travel and to keep them safe on the open water. She’d never take that off. She also has a little shell anklet her Mama gathered the shells for and her Papa wove for her, but it’s more delicate so it tends to only come out for special events and stay in a little hard case in her bag otherwise. Pup, her halfling charge she is training to adjust to life on a ship, bought her a ribbon for her hair and she tends to either wear it braided in her hair or tied around her wrist. She’d be heartbroken if something happened to any of them.

What’s the silliest thing they’ve used magic to do? Oh boy they’re all Fools.

Amaryllis-

She has absolutely used mage hand to bring things to her when she’s mid lounge and doesn’t want to get up. She also uses it in arguments to close doors on people's faces while she storms away.

Danya-

Is also a big fan of mage hand, and uses it to reach books in high places in her office/library without needing to bring out a ladder. She has also cast it to yank curtains closed when she’s hungover.

Laura-

Absolutely abuses shape water to mess with people or to make ice for her drinks. If she’s feeling mischievous mid drink she’ll cast it to make the person’s drink turn into a fish and start swimming around their head.

Lemon-

Outside of Thamaturgy for pranks or yelling back at rude customers, she mostly used her Light cantrip to sneak out and not trip over everything, and once used sacred flame to try to roast an apple. It mostly just left charred apple behind, but for awhile Lemon was determined to see if she could regulate the intensity of the radiant attack to properly roast something. She thought it might have a different flavor then with fire!

Rosalind-

Rosalind uses Cloak of Shadows to avoid talking to people she doesn’t want to all the time. If someone sees her coming and she doesn’t want to talk to them, she’ll duck into a store/room/ally and cast it, hide for a minute while the person follows her into the store, and then leave while they’re looking for her. If she’s already used it for the day, she’ll do the same thing but cast disguise self instead, changing her facial features/clothing just enough for people to realize it wasn’t her they saw, and she’ll slip away that way.

Zimri-

All of my bards abuse mage hand in different ways. Zimri uses it to gently pinch her partner’s butts, or to open doors without having to actually touch them, and for unlacing her dresses if she can’t quite reach. In modern au if one of her partners is walking around in just a halter top/bra, you better believe that closure isn’t safe and she’s gonna try to undo it with mage hand.

Lemon:

“Why? Tell me why you left. I don’t want an apology I want an explanation. If you knew mother was…the way she is then why didn’t you take me with you? Or at least come home more then once every couple of years! I barely know what my own father looks like! I’m not sure I could even pick you out of a crowd and that’s just-never mind, just tell me why you left. Now.”

🗣 Write your character telling a joke. 

“This is one of Uncle Benji’s, so it’s awful but still sort of funny. Why do seagulls fly over the ocean? Because if they flew over the bay we’d call them bagels!”

Zimri:

“Ra’d my love please explain to this extremely attractive but equally self deprecating woman that we would like to take her home for a very long time. While you convince her I’m not lying I’m going to call the pig boy. He can clean out a closet for her clothes while I get a California King set ordered. If I hurry I can get it to the apartment by morning. Kerri, you are lovely and you have beautiful arms. If I could chose how to die, it would be between your thighs, so please listen to Ra’d. She is physically incapable of lying. Frankly it’s adorable watching her try.”

“Partner dancing is honestly the most thrilling thing. When you find a partner you click with you move together like you’re one body, just extensions of the other sharing one soul. Sex isn’t nearly as intimate. People who don’t trust each other or even like each other fuck all the time, but you can’t partner well without that connection.”

-insert her ragging on Liv and calling her Big Blue- Laura doesn’t really tell jokes, she’s more of like, a fool who stumbles on being funny sometimes? She’s very situationally funny so here’s my stab at it.  

“So mom is a Dread Wavemistress, dad’s a barkeep don’t know how that worked and trust me I didn’t ask BUT, they call mom The Great Dread. Bit of a mouthful but nice title. You know what dad calls her? Katherine. The Great Dread, one of the great Wave Mistresses of the deep, and dad calls her Katherine. She let dad name me too, so when she came to see him and handed over my tiny self to this man and told him to name me, my dad brilliant man he is, named me Laura. Laura. The most normal name I’ve heard. How am I supposed to get a title to compete with mom’s with a name like Laura?!“

“I know you just want to help but you cannot tie a knot to save your life, and in this case, that knot would be the thing between you and death by drowning when I throw you off of this ship because you will not let me knot in peace! Villian AU 

“My father has always been there for me, through everything that has ever happened in my life he was there to offer his support. Despite his...let’s say difficult past with the woman who birthed me, he never let his feelings for her interfere with helping me to make a logical well thought out decision regarding my future in the family. I value his council more than any other. He taught me how to brew tea you know. Showed me how to care for the plants, when and how to harvest, how long to dry the leaves, every step he was patient and gentle. After I led my coup and took the throne he brought me tea. Sitting alone on the throne covered in blood and my father brings me tea. I try to let him know how much he means to be but I know lately I have been...occupied. I only hope that I make him proud.“

“Mother and I....things are better then they were at least. I don’t know if I will ever forgive her for how she treated father after their breakup, she was so cruel for no reason I just don’t understand it. Then she demands he take me during the year and I spend summers with her it-it just still doesn’t sit right with me. Regardless, we're finally talking more like actual humans and not just her asking my tutor how I’m progressing in my studies. She even asked how my partners were doing! That’s incredible, especially coming from her.“

In a modern setting, what would be Amaryllis' and Zadok's Halloween costumes? What about Laura's?

So Amaryllis and Zadok's costume depends entirely on where "The Boar and the Lion Empress" is in the season. If it's still on the air Amaryllis INSISTS they go as The Lion Empress and her right hand The Bear. If Eilidh is around you bet your ass she's getting roped into it and will be dressed up as The Boar. If this is post them figuring out that they were actually those historical figures in a past life, then Amaryllis is a big fan of ren faire outfits but specifically the fairies, so she's going as a fairy. Zadok most likely will either not dress up at all, or do whichever costume Eilidh or Amaryllis cook up. They do like to dress up and have lots of ideas, but can't settle on one so they end up doing nothing at all. Many a halloween night was spent tearing up a shirt, smearing some makeup, and going as a zombie.

Laura is always ready to dress up, and I think she uses Halloween as an excuse to wear very fancy clothes and drag the girls out to party, so she’s wearing floaty gowns and going as a “princess”. She really just wants to wear over the top clothes and go dancing. She is the daughter of a bard afterall. Laura will spend time at the party, then want to go home and marathon horror flicks on the couch in pjs with the girls. Just pile together, laugh at Vaska and Hallifax being bastards, steal kisses in between jump scares, etc.
