Writing - June 4th
She had almost fallen asleep when Laurel shook her back to her senses.
"Wake up," the darker girl hissed.
Stella rubbed sleep from her eyes before stifling a yawn. After blinking a couple of times, she looked around – and was immediately surprised by the white light that washed over them both. The rain still hammered on.
"What's going on?" she asked. The light moved as she spoke, bobbing around the cramped tent space. Stella huddled closer and gripped at Laurel's shirt, inhaling her girlfriend's sweet and earthy scent.
"I think it's a flashlight," Laurel replied, voice low. "I'm not sure, but I think someone found us."
"In the middle of a storm?"
They shared a look and Laurel bit at her lip. "I don't know," she replied after a moment. "I don't know."
