Hey, I know I’m not supposed to ask but I was wondering when you will be updating next. Just a little heads up so I can go on with my life. Checking daily is not good for my health. 🤣 I’m skylarks lament on ao3 btw. Wasn’t able to leave a review yet, but I will. Thanks for the great two chapters. I knew I would have died with a cliffhanger that big 🥵
LOL yeah definitely not, super poor fandom etiquette.
But! Since you did ask, the fic updates every three (3) weeks, usually Sunday nights PST.
Weekends are when I have time to set up and post a new chapter. The three weeks in between updates are how long it takes to write. PLEASE REMEMBER that each chapter is between 50-100 pages!
Now, this last double-chapter update was a special circumstance, because
a) my readers elected to wait an extra two weeks for double-chapter funtime (200+ pages!) and to avoid a cliffhanger, and
b) I posted 16 & 17 at the beginning of the weekend instead of the end, to give everyone a chance to have a good sit down with them, lol.
I totes get how that could be confusing. However, now that we’re back on the regular schedule, the new chapter will be up this Sunday night PST.😁
SIDENOTE: I don’t think readers who do this (and there are a few!) mean to be rude/pushy, but I do think there’s a good reason for the “don’t nag for updates” fandom rule. Nobody likes to feel blamed or guilted for not updating sooner.
In the future, the best way to phrase an update request to an author is something like, “I really love [insert fic title here]! What’s your update schedule for it; daily, weekly, etc?” Then count out the dates for yourself, and don’t start “checking daily” until that date has passed.
