He knows her in the Dreaming. He knows the shadows that hunt her the landscapes of her slumbering mind, the shape of beasts she once ran alongside. He knows the companions beside her now; and she, above all, like a flame in the broken sprawl of the unraveled Weave, the song between two worlds long silent. But still she endures, this young spark, veined with corruption. It will claim her, eventually.
But she was His first.
And he sleeps, caught in the dreams of the world like the muted slumber of the deep and lightless benthic. His are the dreams of a continent, the recollections of spirits acting out the resonances of tragedies ages past. And yet he, the elder god, dreams of things older still. Weighted by memory, by the heavy crush of the prism’d Veil, he moves like oil through a thousand sightless sleepers, seeking her flame.
For she is marked by his symbol, and his roots dig deep.
The little pathfinder is not so little, nor so young, but in her lifetime has passed the slow pulse of the Beyond, a single blink of an ageless eye, cast far to the edges of the world, slipping the spaces between dreams.
She shares hers now, not only with He whose brand she bears, but with the fractured mosaic of a dying god. And Falon’Din pities her, to be bound to such a creature. He has come to remind her of his claim. And he has come because the stirring of an old soul has become an inchoate thing, born once and born anew. The turning of the wheel come round.
And again the girl fox receives him.

He visits her as low rolling of shadow at the edges of her dream, formless, unmade, intangible as grasping black smoke. He does not speak, but comes as a Voice, known more than heard.
