YESSSS OMG YESSSS. The big thing I HATE is that SO MANY PEOPLE think that he's the spawn of Satan thanks to the MCU.
Which....isn't Ross or Red Hulk AT ALL. They're not evil but they are extremely flawed. Hell, Hulk's threatened more people than Ross has but he's treated with kid gloves compared to the way Red is treated.
So many people call Red Hulk evil but he's very much a broken Hulk that's tried doing the good thing but got shit on every single time he tried. All of his friends are gone, his family's gone....he's all alone now. And he's regressed into his old soldier state of mind from when he lost his wife. He can't focus on himself anymore without breaking.
Another shocking unpopular opinion I have is that Ross truly loves Betty. Like in the photos at Ross' desk in Brave New World, and in his flashbacks during the Jeff Parker Hulk run, they were inseparable and Ross was genuinely very happy when he got to be a dad to Betty.
Unfortunately, after the loss of Karen is when Ross started breaking and you see the added trauma colliding with his grief and the only way he knew how to cope was to built a wall around himself.
He never hated his daughter, he never abused his daughter. Like hard to believe but the very idea that Ross at one point was a loving father to Betty somehow offends people which makes it hilarious.
Is he perfect? Hell no. The guy deserves to get his balls kicked in for all the shit he dragged Betty and Bruce through during his psychotic breaks in the 80's. But he's also not demon spawn. He's a man who lost everything and now has nothing left to live for.
(Except when I write him lol. When I write Red/Ross, he's got his Jen, Betty, and the Gamma Twins. And Ororo.)
