need opinions on this thing, were my rights violated? i felt like i was being coerced, copypasting the whole thing
so i'm pretty sure a nurse practitioner violated my rights, specifically about bodily autonomy and making medical decisions, and the right to refuse treatment.
i went in for a medication refill of three antihistimines, the only combination that worked to stop my hives. i know the hives are from an autoimmune disorder because of a blood test that was a test for Lots of autoimmune things (the hives are the only symptom and have been under control for a year now). she was for some reason, unhappy that i was taking centrizine and loratidine. i explained the hives, how i know it's from an autoimmune disorder, but i'm not mentally stable enough to seek out a diagnosis, so could she just give me some more meds?
She shut down immediately and threatened to leave, saying I would have to go to urgent care to get my medications. I apologized, and then she said I can just get those medicines over the counter. So for some reason, she just did not want to prescribe me my antihistimines, but she did not say there was any kind of danger to take them as I do, or any negative side effects at all. She just got mad that I disagreed with her, and seemed very ableist about me Having to go see a doctor about the autoimmune disorder, like I'm an idiot for not going when actually, I'm just fighting my brain every single day just to LIVE and I can barely survive, I don't need the stress of trying to find a diagnosis on top of this.
In the end, she gave me two months' worth of meds and said I needed to make an appointment to see a doctor before then. So I told her I wasn't ready, and she continued to pressure me. I feel like she was coercing me into making medical decisions, which is a violation of my rights. I feel like if there is a right to refuse treatment, there is a right to refuse diagnosis.
adding on. it has been a year since the hives started but i am not any better off mentally than i was last year
