lots of thoughts tbh, mainly i love how it plays into a lot of the gundam tropes but always with a twist. it either subverts or expands on them (specially the whole McGillis - Gaelio repeating the Char - Garma story beats and then doing... a lot of new stuff with it)

i also wasn't expecting to like the huge cast of characters, but they're all great & likeable & get a lot of nice scenes and character development all throughout the series which is insane!

also holy shit 4 different op/ed's ??????

i like the ost, reminds me a bit of ps1/ps2 era rpgs which to me is peak

the animation is REALLY good

i also really like when a story knows how to balance the dark and cheery parts. it's great

i'm sure i have a lot more thoughts but they're not coming to me rn.

thank you for ibo posting, idk when i would've seen it if not for you. honestly i never had much expectations for non-tomino gundam series but i see now that a better world is possible

#1 we've got lynch. i just get him. i love an eccentric having fun with it and explaining shit and he seemed like a genuinely pretty nice guy

Nobuhiko Obayashi won my heart forever with Hausu, what can i say. there's a lot of his stuff i haven't watched yet but the things i did watch just feel right.

Special mention to Akira Kurosawa, Mamoru Oshii (likes the smell of his own farts way too much but i forgive him) and Shinya Tsukamoto. (there's too many japanese directors here i may be a bit of a weeb

Gotta give a spot to Cronemberg, not everything he does is a hit and i'm pretty sure he's a bit of a douchebag but he directed videodrome, naked lunch (altho i'm also pretty sure he fucked burroughs over). a dangerous method is pretty cool too.
