Witchcraft, Curses and the Threefold Law
Ok ok....I know...the title sounds a little preach-y, like I’m going to make a blog post about not doing curses because of the threefold law and it’ll come back to you and yada yada yada.....
Yeah right. Like I would ever say that.
I got the idea for this blog post from a witchcraft Facebook group I’m in, actually. An OP asked if anybody had any revenge spells or curses, and almost every comment on the thread was, “Just let karma do its job.” “Remember the threefold Law.” “Be careful sweetie. Make sure it’s worth it before you put it out there. It could come back to you.”
First of all, take a seat.
If you are part of a group that is supposed to be supportive of all sects of the Craft and it’s members, don’t patronize an OP who is asking a simple question and coming to the group for help. NOT ALL WITCHES ARE WICCAN. NOT ALL WITCHES BELIEVE IN THE THREEFOLD LAW. INSTEAD OF WAITING FOR KARMA, SOMETIMES IT IS NECESSARY TO BE KARMA.
Jesus Christ how many times am I going to have to say it before people understand?
If somebody makes a post that you don’t agree with or asks for something that you don’t agree with them doing because it doesn’t fit into your preferred sect of the Craft, DONT COMMENT ON IT. DONT OFFER YOUR OPINION. IF YOU ARE NOT GOING TO HELP THE OP THEN MOVE THE FUCK ON.
If you are Wiccan as you believe in the threefold law, good for you. To each their own. Everybody has their beliefs, and nobody has a right to try to tell you that your beliefs are wrong. That’s why they’re called Beliefs. It’s what you believe in and the cool thing about them is that nobody can take them away from you.
However, I am not Wiccan and I don’t believe in the threefold law. I don’t believe in white or black magic either. Magic is neutral grounds for the intent that you send out. I believe in doing good magic and good deeds but sometimes dark, or black magic, is a necessity. You have to balance it out. You cannot have the light without the dark and vice versa.
Another reason I was upset by the Facebook post was because there were people commenting saying that the OP couldn’t do a curse unless she knew specifically what she wanted the curse for.
They also told her she needed to specify how long she wanted to wait before the curse took effect, otherwise it won’t work.
On one hand, 🤚 they were kind of right. You CAN send a specific curse to someone, and I suppose you CAN speed up the target time.
It is completely irresponsible to tell a newbie witch that being specific and knowing exactly what she wants to take effect is the only way a curse will work. I really wish people who have no idea what they’re talking about would stop giving this kind of “advice” to newbies. It’s wrong. Just stop. 🛑
AND STOP TELLING NEWBIE WITCHES IF THEY CURSE SOMEBODY IT WILL COME BACK ON THEM YOU ARE SCARING THEM AWAY FROM THE CRAFT.
I shouldn’t have to keep repeating myself, but I did so just now for effect. 🤓
If you curse someone, you don’t have to have a specific curse in mind. If you don’t know what part of their life you want to ruin, it’s okay. You can do a general curse. General curses are just as powerful as specific curses.
Buuuut I do have to warn you:
If you do a general curse, there’s no telling how severe the curse will be. It can be as harmless as, say, they stub their toe on the way out the door, get a flat tire on the way to work and then get yelled at by their boss on the same day.
Or it could be mild, like....they could get a cold that persists for a few weeks.
It could be a medium curse (worse than mild, but not extreme). They could get evicted from their home, fires from their job or broken up with their significant other.
Or it could be serious. They could die.
So before doing a curse, you need to ask yourself: If they get the worst end of the curse, could you live with that for the rest of your life? If the answer is yes, then by all means, proceed.
And as far as timing goes, in a general curse there’s no telling how long it will take, to take effect. It could be immediate, could be a few days, weeks, months, even years.
But a curse will always catch up to them eventually.
I know some of you are reading this and thinking to yourselves, “What the hell does she know?”
I’m glad you asked; I’d love to tell you. Pull up a seat and buckle up, Witches. I’m about to tell you a story.
Aside from reading tarot cards and making herbal tea blends and tinctures, I also do magickal work for other people. Sometimes they ask me to do a spiritual cleansing on their house, sometimes they ask me for love spells (which I hate doing but I get paid, so..) and I also do curse work. Because a lot of mere mortals dont really grasp the severity of curses, I charge a lot for them and I make them sign a waiver absconding me from any liability should the curse turn severe.
I had a client come to me for curse work. 98% of the time, when I do curse work it’s for women who want to hex an old boyfriend. That’s exactly what this particular client wanted me to do. Apparently he had an affair with her “best friend” and she wanted me to curse them both. So I did.
It worked immediately. The “best friend” and the boyfriend broke up, the girl went to jail and then rehab, and the guy got shot during a heated altercation with one of his family members. He died on the way to the hospital.
The same client came to me about a year later, again asking me to curse an ex boyfriend. I don’t even know what this guy did to her; I don’t care. I just did what I was paid to do.
That curse took a while. About 4 months, if I remember correctly. Then out of the blue, all of this guy’s organs started shutting down. He was admitted to the hospital for testing and none of the doctors or specialists could figure out why this was happening. It took about 3 weeks for all of his major organs to shut down, and they pulled him off of life support.
I had no idea what the outcome of those curses would be. I’m assuming they were so severe because when I was doing the curses I was channeling my client’s anger and hurt, which gave them such horrendous outcomes. And guess what? Karma did not bite me in the ass. My life is still, to this day, just as great as it was back then, if not greater.
My point is, if you’re a newbie witch and you want to do black magick, then by all means do it. You don’t have to believe in the threefoldnlaw; don’t let other witches scare you away with the threat of it. Balance out your dark magick with light magick. If you are going to curse someone, you don’t have to be specific, but you need to know that the outcome can turn out horrendously; and ending that you can’t reverse.
Just be careful. Be safe.
