📁📁📁 (for Layla)
1.
In Bleach, Layla once had a single-blade odachi Zanpakuto named Sayawan Ibon, a fire-type. She was something of a prodigy that manifested her named Zan in the academy and it was a big deal! And she let it get to her head and made a pretty grave mistake on her final training mission that broke her Zan in two and nearly tore off her leg. She took a long time to recover from this, and was never able to fully 'fix' Sayawan. It remained as two blades named Pinuno at Alagad and while she lost all the fire abilities, one ended up with air/wind abilities and one ended up with heat based abilities- she took this to mean that they would forever be the lead-up to a fire without the ability to ever set things ablaze again, which went along with her more cautious and evasive approach to combat.
2.
In any AU, Layla is entirely allergic to commitment and bolts at the slightest whiff of commitment in a relationship- she and Jo dated for a time and, Jo being Jo, made it too serious too fast and Layla panicked and cheated on her. This becomes a running joke with Layla's friends (including Jo), and one of her fwb buddies Mythri regularly 'proposes' to Layla just to see how far Layla will run before she realizes it's a joke.
3.
In Ghosttowns and Bleach, Layla is another student of Fuu's, which is surprising to people considering how badly their personalities seem to clash. Fuu is a stoic, rigid and honor-bound woman and Layla is a flighty, easygoing flirt. But Fuu can see what Layla takes seriously and it was enough to make her want to take Layla on- her partygirl lackadaisical attitude is mostly a front, expertly masking an inner drive for perfection and skill. Fuu doesn't understand why Layla would want people to think she's a vapid goof-off, but she respects the person Layla tends to hide from people.
