After reading Layla's text, Scarlett shoved her phone into her jeans pocket, entering the grocery store with twenty dollars in hand, ready to spend on food heaven. She could afford a lot more, but the bill was just lying on the table in the foyer, there for the taking. The store wasn't that big, it had enough. She'd go to the candy store to get something quality, but wasn't really bothered at that point. Walking directly to the confectionary isle in a hurry, she surveyed its contents, glancing around with her lips pursed. Spotting what she wanted, Scarlett took a box of popcorn, a few decks of bubbly and caramello for the two to pig out on, and some red frogs which Scarlett always loved to pig out on. She never really hung out with other people, besides Layla. Sure, she had other friends, but Layla was the one that was always there for her, and Layla knew it. They got into their fights, but still managed to be best friends in the end.
The Empire wasn't too far away, so there was no point in getting a cab, and it was a little too casual for the limo she probably could've gotten. Upper East Siders generally had a life with everything served on a silver platter, but Scarlett was never really fussed on living like that. Sure, it was great, and she appreciated all that she had, but she would be fine with living in a loft in Brooklyn- as long as she was in New York. Leaving the store, the Empire was in sight, and she made her way over, and up to the penthouse where Layla lived.
