Ok ok just watched inside out 2 and just i want to talk about the climax scene
All throughout the movie Anxiety has pushed joy away in order to make Riley good enough even though she was always good enough in reality. Joy has fought her way to the end of Riley’s mind even though it was in the opposite direction of headquarters, where joy needed to be, but she loves her girl. she’d do anything for her, even letting the bad memories get to her so she could be true to herself and real. The other emotions weren’t as focused, yes they wanted Riley back to normal but they didn’t truly understand what she needed like Joy did.
Anxiety going a mile a minute but nothing is working and everything is going wrong for her and if it doesn’t work then everyone will hate her if she doesn’t score those goals because god forbid everyone leaving her and then
and then joy talks to her. joy brings her back to reality. It’s just hockey. it’s okay if things don’t work out but she needs to let go because she’s pushing herself too hard, pushing riley too hard
…
after they get her true sense of self back… the console calls for joy. It wants her, Riley wants joy to be there. everyone parts their way for joy, she deserves this Riley deserves to have joy there. I think Riley missed her. She missed having joy while playing the sport she loves. She missed joy so much
and then she just. gets to play hockey. with pure utter joy after stressing for hours over her future and sucking the joy out of the thing she loves to do. Now she can just play. no worries over the teams. the air is brighter, the sun comes out, and everything is glossy. She’s playing with her friends for the possible last time even though they’re on opposite teams and she’s just. happy. She forgot how happy it made her, she forgot how much she liked it when she stressed over her whole universe depending on it and everything seems so little now that she looks back on it
She missed her.
(That’s where the tears happened for me.)
