Tiny Away Escape at Lazarus Island
2024 marks an important year of growth and challenges for my family, and what better way to kick start a brand new year of adventures than with a Tiny Away Escape at Lazarus Island!
Lazarus Island is just a 30 minute ride away via Marina South Ferries located at Marina South Pier. Remember to bring along an umbrella for unexpected rainy weather as there are no shelters from the pier to the Tiny Houses.
There are currently five Tiny Houses available for booking, with each house decorated according to its time period. For our island retreat, we selected the 1960 Tiny House which has an industrial interior design.
The Tiny House is warm and cozy with all of the modern amenities that you need for a comfortable island escape, including a microwave, a smokeless grill, a coffee machine, a kettle, and a mini refrigerator. When you check in, you will also receive a care package containing a wide range of complementary food and beverages such as cup noodles, biscuits, tea bags, coffee capsules, and a variety of cold drinks in the fridge.
One of the best parts about visiting Lazarus Island is being close to Mother Nature with a beautiful beach offering spectacular views of its surrounding islands. Another major facility on the island is a convenience store offering marinated meats, snacks, instant noodles, and all kinds of beverages for a feast.
For our dinner, we decided to make a donburi comprising of brown rice, grilled miso salmon and mixed mushrooms, complemented by fresh salad and grilled miso batang fish slices.
Feeling satisfied after dinner, we had an early bedtime to wake up at 6:45am to greet the beautiful sunrise and welcome a brand new year!
Next up is breakfast where we enjoyed yogurt, mixed fruits, granola, tea and coffee while relaxing in our cozy space until the ferry departs at 11:30am.
Would we return for an island escape on Lazarus Island?
The answer is a resounding yes! It is a truly unique experience that allows visitors to take a step back, and enjoy a slower pace of life compared to our hectic concrete jungle back in the mainland.
With more facilities and glamping options popping up on the island, it would be interesting to return sometime in the future to see how the island will adapt to its increasing popularity. Hopefully, it will be able to retain its rustic charm and its relaxing atmosphere, striking a delicate balance between profitability and sustainability in the booming eco tourism sector.
Big thank you to the Tiny Away Escape at Lazarus Island Team for your hospitality during my family island adventure!
