The group who threw the soup were part of a group that is mainly funded by an oil heiress so I’m pretty sure they what they did on purpose

Oh there was definitely something fishy going on, and another group just threw potato soup on a Monet painting. It's not helpful and is just a pain in the ass for the underpaid museum employees to deal with and for the people who just wanted to enjoy art as a break from their capitalist hellscape environment.

Like billionaire oil corporations aren't affected at all by this, but regular working class people who either work at the museum or just wanted to educate themselves or enjoy art *are* affected.

Aka: *Most Tumblr “Pro-Lifers”

I am a doer

When I was growing up and had a suggestion regarding altering anything on our ranch, my grandfather would say

What is YOUR plan to fix it . How can YOU improve whatever concern YOU have .

Either I had a plan to improve whatever concern I had , or I learned to be quiet

Something Tumblr Pretend Pro-Lifers need to learn to.

They like to debate , post, run their mouth and waste time on Tumblr all day ,

but can not show pics or evidence of anything they are actively DOING to improve the lives of the women they want to force birth irl or the babies they want to “help” .

useless posts , opinions , and data does not count .

I learned to be a doer .

Before I joined my college sorority, Delta Sigma Theta. I had to list at least 2 community organizations that I ACTIVELY was a member of and could prove documented volunteer hours.

I choose the NAACP and a local mental retardation center .

I am certified to teach the mentally challenged, which I observe many bloggers displaying alot of those characteristics on Tumblr btw .

I was accepted into my sorority, why ?

Because I was a doer .

When I applied for medical school, the process was the same . I had to list my community service hours , and the organizations in which I volunteered

This time I listed a rape crisis center and I was also a hospital volunteer .

If you are a high school student and are applying to certain programs and universities , you must have documentation of your community service

Why?

Because ,

How can you assist or attain knowledge of the people you claim to want to help without personal experience ,active participation and interaction , or knowledge of their needs ?

In another words , you must be a doer

Tumblr Pro-Lifers apparently missed this important memo .

What I notice most glaringly about Tumblr Pro-Lifers specifically, is that they enjoy debating their ideology or position on Tumblr all day

No one gives a fuck about your opinion , your out dated pro life “data”, or the “abortion horror stories” you love to post

that does not personally feed or help anyone

Especially the “babies” they claim they want to save

How are Tumblr Pro-lifers providing direct assistance?

I never see examples of the “good work” Tumblr pro -lifers are doing in their community

Posting pro-life content to Tumblr is useless lazy activism

Become a doer .

You can not share knowledge when you must look to google , pro-life propaganda sites, or your Tumblr Pro-Life peers for your talking points

Get off of your lazy ass ,

be a meaningful part of the change you want to see in the lives of “the babies” and the forced birth women you want to “help”

Be a doer or

STFU

When you seek radical social change that dramatically alters the life ,and removes the freedoms of someone else , you must be an exemplary knowledgeable leader

in other words , a doer

On "Slacktivism"

When I was in college, I took a class on digital activism. It seemed right up my alley: I’d always been trying to fight some cause or another, or throw rocks at people who had authority over me. So when we got an assignment to pick a cause and pursue it--with an opportunity for me to shoot a little video--I was pumped. I linked up with my friend Josh, and we came up with the idea of petitioning for recycling bins at the George Washington University’s graduation. In past years, people had given out thousands of pamphlets and sold thousands of drinks, and all of that ended up in overflowing trash cans. Something had to be done, goddamnit!

So we hit the streets (or street, rather), I shot some video, and we got 300 signatures or so. The video got a small amount of attention on Facebook, and there may have even been an article about it somewhere. All in all, we’d successfully made our case, and we felt accomplished. 

Then we dropped off the signatures to the sustainability office. The response wasn’t what we were hoping for. In some way, I think we wanted a fight, we wanted to hear: “It’ll cost too much! There’s no time to prepare!” so that we could say “FUCK your excuses, the people demand recycling options now!” That would be dramatic and make us feel important, but what we got was:

“Thanks for doing this, but next time, you guys could just come and talk to us. We’re always looking for energetic young people with ideas.”

Right...but they wouldn’t have been so responsive if we hadn’t shown how much public support we had behind us, right?! Maybe, but it had never even crossed our minds to ask them before we started the whole campaign. Most likely all of the energy that went into shitting on the school could have been put into making up a solid plan for affordable recylcing options, cause you know, people who actually change the world don’t just sit around making other people upset about it, they do things. I guess it took a long time for that lesson to sink in, and it's still sinking, but whenever I see someone getting furious about some person or group or cause, part of me wonders if in some small way they want a fight more than they want to improve things. I've been guilty of that more times than not.

So, you know this talk of net neutrality, and whether or not companies can control the speeds at which websites move. The thing is, I think people are ignoring a much bigger issue with internet companies, and that is the institution of data caps, which either charge you extra, stop service, or slow your speeds if exceeded, the thing about this is that it is worse than discriminating against smaller websites because the internet is simply too essential to our lives now to limit, we educate, entertain, and conduct business through a service that runs out on a monthly basis, and that, I believe is much more pressing. So, make it clear, tell your lawmakers that you want unlimited data legislated.
