HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEKU ! 🎂 my best boi. the puddle of sunshine that personifies everything worth fighting for— this is for you. i’ve been cosplaying deku for over two years now. this small hero has meant so much to me over those past two years... not even just from the perspective of personal growth and progress, but also that of the incredible people he has brought into my life. there are so many i can’t even begin to list them— but y’all know who you are. and you are my world. seeing someone like deku was so important to me... to see someone struggle and fail— yet keep getting up. to know that it’s okay to have faults... to rise above and make the world a kinder place. that someone else felt that same fierce sense of loyalty and commitment... that never stopped believing, with that same impulse to put down your life for someone else... yet learned their life was just as worthy of that same protection... was beyond any measure. i see so much of myself in deku— my strengths, my mannerisms, and my faults... it’s unbelievable. every time i zip up that suit, i feel like my most honest self, my most comfortable... my most confident. it’s a reminder that love is in my life, even in its darkest points... and that can never be replicated or replaced. thank you deku for being the hero i needed to see, thank you kōhei horikoshi for crafting him, & thank you @justin.briner for bringing him to the screen. you have made my world so much better— just by bringing this broccoli head into it. 🥦
