Bankotsu is my darling prodigal son who is impressive and can do no wrong in my eyes and renkotsu is the older brother who tries his best but will just never measure up 2 his lil bro and just Charlie browns thru life
mukotsu you’re literally in the middle of doing the same thing
[sad trombone]
fun fact:
naraku has seen bankotsu’s dick
that’s it
that’s the basis of their friendship
[canned laughter]
one of the reasons saint hakushin is a very important character to me is because when i was studying in japan i learned about sokushinbutsu in my religions class and visited Hieizan where if my memory serves (and i’ve been trying to find something online to help me remember if i’m right) there’s a monk who went through this process enshrined there.
when i rewatched this arc for the first time and they tell his backstory and explain the process i was very surreal for me because i remembered learning about it and seeing it in inuyasha was like whaaaat.
knowing what i do about the process and having been possibly near someone like saint hakushin i’ve got a lot of feelings about the character and feel for him deeply. i’ve got a lot of respect for him and i’m p sure he’s the one character i would be livid about someone making fun of.
