Putting down an ask so that you may give out a rundown on general dynamics between our Lu and Dante + any mirror shenanigans you’ll like to add.

for a basic starting question, is there other mirror world hongdan that you also enjoy other than H-Lu? <—-trying so hard not to write several paragraphs of my own thoughts here

kurokumo hong lu + dante is very very fun to me. kurokumo hong lu is already immensely fascinating to me considering how his whole mentality is "i haaaaatttte following orders except from you dante ily dante we all love dante ❤️" which. on one hand. absolutely fucking hilarious. on the other hand. kind of really fucking sad when you think about it for too long. (the only reason dante gets his respect is probably because they're the only person that's treated him like a fucking human being.)

i think it would be hilarious with kk!hong lu's blatant flirting if dante was just fucking oblivious. like they still get flustered but they're FULLY convinced that he's joking about wanting them in a romantic/sexual way, partially because dante hasn't ever considered themselves as anything outside of "manager/beast of burden of limbus company" which funny but, again, said when you think about it for too long.

on a completely different side of things, i think ring hong lu is also another fun and interesting id. even if it isn't out yet i've kinda already made up a dynamic for it yet. callishong lu is a little shit to dante and looooooooves pressing their buttons in the most casual way possible. following orders a bit too rigidly or too losely, enough to kinda throw dante off their balance. in general, he looooves getting reactions out of dante, especially physical ones. dante has the wombo combo of being insanely physically emotive and also chronically unaware of their body, so ring!hong lu finds it fun to poke and prod at them just to see what weird and funny way they react.

he's also very invested in making dante more aware of their body, standing a bit too close to them or resting his hand a bit too long just to see if they notice it or react. more often than not dante does get a bit uncomfortable but they kinda just push it put of the way, which hong lu notices and starts pushing further to see when they'll finally tell him to back off, if they ever will. i dont think hong lu would ever let himself solidify his affection for dante in this universe as "love" because the moment he thinks that, he will feel obligated to turn them into at artwork. it's the strongest feeling, after all, he would be remiss not to make a comment on it...

dante hasn't solidified their opinions on this id yet but the fact that it's an id based off of a person that kinda went out of their way to torture a child is. well it's not a green flag, thats for sure. but the real fucked up thing is that bits and pieces of the hong lu they know and recognize flow naturally from him like a river and it both relieves and unsettles them. both in that there is something familiar in the uncertainly and that, somewhere, this hong lu was, in fact, the hong lu that dante knew and love, normally someone full of love and understanding, twisted and almost perverted in this way. its the same kinda reaction dante would have to fanghunt hong lu too. general unpleasantness around.

the hong lu that im most insne about as you can tell is lord of hongyuan. ooohhhh i could talk about all of the fun and insane things he makes me think about but it would be spoilers for my fic. alas.

hi so I'm finally getting around to this ask. but I want you to know how LOCKED IN I AM on this. like. I made an entire separate doc on my ellipsus account so that it doesn't get eaten again. 

hongdan. hongte. danlu. 610. so many fun and wacky ways to refer to the same pairing of absolute peak. I've had a friend refer to it as "dong" which made me frown immensely. 

for the record, i've been on this ship since day 1. I have multiple people that can attest to this. I'm not even that much of a shipper, like, I respect it from a distance, but it's never been my cup of tea. my only other Limbus ships are, like, heathcliff/dante and Hong Lu/heathcliff maybe Dante/Gregor if I'm feeling special. Does anyone notice a trend here? 

(I actually have a post cannon au wherein heathcliff, Dante and Hong Lu form the world's most Normal-Insane Polycule. what does that mean? you just have to Trust Me.)

anyways. back onto the topic. Hong Lu and Dante fascinate me bc they're almost like. a test on how much of yourself you can recognize in another. these two have such similar complexes regarding autonomy and self-objectification. like. a lot of their characters revolve around turning themselves into objects to be used for others. Hong Lu objectifies himself because it's easy, the path of least resistance for him, it prevents himself from being hurt meanwhile, Dante turns themself into an object because it gives them purpose, because they don't perceive any value in themselves outside of their use for others. Call me a mewgenics Tank because I'm gonna start EATING ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

its also this exact situation why I think that they're also the number 1 residents of yearning valley. neither of them know how to love themselves, so the thought of loving somebody else is horrifying. Dante is just kinda like. "oh well. in another life." meanwhile Hong Lu is perfectly recreating this conversation with Heathcliff.

to put it in the wise words of Tumblr used necronatural, getting into the relationship is like pulling teeth but after that they're like. the normalest couple you've ever seen.

if I wanted to be more insane, I could also start talking about my self indulgent bullshit au, "The Lord of Hongyuan's Most Beloved Treasure", also known as hmbt for short. the premise of it is best explained in my original doodle post. Dante is having a very Chinese time of their life right now. I'm a very big fan of the "horrible person with a wonderful spouse" trope, and this is basically "what if I took the worst Hong Lu and gave him a sickly sweet shoujo romance" with a sprinkling of character analysis and funny interactions, as well as poking at Dante in a non-work enviornment to get fun new reactions out of them. again, highly self-indulgent. here's a snippet of it just for you because i dont get to talk about it often

my favorite use of fanfic is taking a character's pre existing complex and exaggerating it to the point where you'd have to be actively closing your eyes not to see it

this has gone on for a bit and unfortunately I have computer science work to do but. God. anon. I love being insane and this has added years onto my lifespan. I will die happy now.

With the sinners being assigned an animal for their birthday artwork, I’ve been passively thinking on what animal would Dante get since they don’t get official birthday artwork.

but the only I could think of is like, a sheep/bunny because those two animals have short fluffy tails

Also because I think it would be cute in an au where the sinners all have animal features, Dante doesn’t appear to have any and the sinners assumes they’re just human. Hong Lu gets gifted a Dante plush handmade by Dante themselves and the plush has a tiny bunny/sheep tail when lifting their coat tail up + the stuffing for the plush is Dante’s own fur/wool which they added because although they don’t really have a sense of smell, the smell of a loved own is quite comforting

Side note, I feel like I’m unloading too much of my own stuff into your ask box. Trying to connect to your Hongdan ideas but I’m afraid I’m not exactly sure how to proceed (should I just continue dropping my own ideas or you’d rather be asked questions?)

i am personally partian to bunte (bunny dante) because a) i love bunnies, and b) being a bunny associated with clocks kinda makes them like the white rabbit from alice in wonderland, which i think is Neat. also, did you know that bunnies are insanely soft? like, holy shit theyre so soft. my sister used to own a bunny and i kinda miss that experience even if it was a bit of a nightmare. anyways i digress.

i honestly dont mind going along with whatever you want, i'm personally really enjoying this kind of exchange we have going on of hongte ideas. most of mine are uh. well. you can tell they came from me/silly

i never mind getting asks ever since most of the asks i o get are from my friends bc they have a funny joke that they send here instead of my dms for some reason. or because theyre using my askbox as confessional. either way, asks are very very welcome i love interaction. hongte 4ever......
