“Get out of my house.” Verin groaned from her bed, hands coming up only to drag down her face. She swore it was the only way she could stop herself from grabbing the knife out from under her mattress or the 10mm out from her nightstand drawer. 

“Get off of my room, Dolores!”

Joe squeezes his eyes shut just in time for the clump of freezing cold snow to smack him right in the forehead, and his gloved hands scramble to dust himself off. 

“Sheesh, Lo,” he calls, “who taught you how to throw, Babe Ruth?”

He drops to his knees trying to duck, his eyes still shut as he blindly reaches to start making his own snowball. Once it’s packed, he wipes his eyes with his sleeve, aims, and sends another one her way.
