❛ i had it under control. you didn’t need to do that. ❜
on the forest floor laid the body of a lost boy tink had just executed moments ago. kneeling on the ground before him, she dug through his pockets searching for one specific item she saw him take before he ran out of hangman’s tree. she paused her search to look up at peter with a disapproving expression, “sure you did, that’s why he was able to take so much of our stuff because you had it under control.” her hand slipped inside the boy’s jacket pockets and her fingers curled around an object she was too familiar with. again she looked at peter, this time with annoyance and tossed his pan flute to him. “here, you may want that back.” her search started turning frantic, mumbling to herself and trying not to panic.
perhaps she should have knocked him out instead of outright killing him so she could question him. her eyes darted to one of his hands which was curled into a fist. she pried it open and squealed once she saw exactly what she had been looking for. “this is exactly why i needed to kill him,” she stood up and held the opal ring out for peter to see. “he stole the ring you gave me.” admittedly, peter had stolen it himself for tink, but even so it was hers and it meant so much to her that she was willing to kill over it. skipping over to peter’s side, her wings now fluttering happily, she makes a point of sliding it on her left hand’s ring finger and grins at peter.
holding her hand out in front of her she admired the ring and how the moonlight danced on it, as she’s done so many times before. “you can do whatever with the body. throw it in mermaid lagoon, let the animals feast on it, burn it…i don’t care now that i have my ring back.”
