Yes. Saiyans have the ability to sense mood shifts through energy readings. Trunks has the capability to tell how someone is feeling by the aura and feeling of their Ki. And, though he’d never go to his extent, Saiyans also have Telepathic tendencies/powers. The art of Telepathy in the DBZ universe is pretty advanced, and users capable of Telepathy have the ability to read other’s minds that they communicate with. They wouldn’t even know he’s reading their thoughts (for the better though).

Mirai Trunks is not very skilled at romance. He lacks a lot of the romantic etiquette learned at an early age, so he acts based upon what he knows. He’s never one to save those ‘I love you’s for special occasions. He wants his lover to know that he loves them all the time. Other things include leaving notes with messages written on them (from where he went, if he’s gone, or little affectionate poems). He also enjoys caressing, and gently running his fingers of his partner’s skin. He likes to admire.

This is without a doubt a yes. Love is something Trunks cherishes very much, but he cares about the well being of his lover much more than he does himself. If you love something, you should let it go, right? that’s only half the quote, but the concept still stands. If it meant they would have a better chance at life, then Trunks would leave them with proper reasoning. He wouldn’t just leave them in the dark. he’d want them to know why, and to understand that he wants the best for his partner at all times.
