Jodie Turner-Smith The Latest To Join Showtime’s ‘The Agency’

'The Agency': Jodie Turner Smith has joined Richard Gere and Jeffrey Wright in the Showtime series.

The Queen & Slim and Acolyte star will play Sami Zahir, a professor of social anthropology who has a history with Martian, played by Michael Fassbender. The splashy cast, which also includes Jeffrey Wright and Richard Gere with George Clooney exec producing, has been teased slowly over the past couple of weeks.

Based on French series Le Bureau, the Paramount+ with Showtime thriller follows Martian, a covert CIA agent ordered to abandon his undercover life and return to London Station. When the love he left behind reappears, romance reignites. His career, his real identity and his mission are pitted against his heart.

Finished Le Bureau and I feel like the first episode should have had some kind of content warning for getting emotionally too invested in the characters and having to go through all that with them. Not a happy end, but it was coming like a train you saw from a distance.

So many feelings T_T

I loved Marie-Jeanne and Nadia especially, but most characters were fabulous. Tremendous. Great.

I thought Jonas's terrorist attack side plot in season four was quite unengaging because the plotline felt very chopped and more difficult to follow than the other stories, and when season five started, I feared it would be more of the same in Egypt, but that worked out a bit better, but I also felt there was side plot fatigue by the end there.

The last season of Le Bureau is at hand for me this weekend (??) and while five doesn't stand up to me personally as well as 1-3, it's still four and a half stars out of five consistently.

Interesting amount of violence in the third season of Le bureau. About halfway through, and it's difficult to watch because every episode is giving me anxiety. Everything Is Horrible And Everything Goes Wrong all the time.

I love Nadia so much T_T She's this Person Of Integrity and Great Conviction.

Le Bureau, halfway through season 2. The asshole with superiority complex has betrayed his country, himself and his friends and colleagues in order to save the life of the woman he loves, and the psych eval on that by the end of the first season said he's doing it all mostly because he needs to throw himself into dangerous situations so he can climb out of them and feel in control, and that his love for Nadia is just an illusion. Now that he's lost everything and everyone, except for his daughter, Nadia is finally safe outside of Syria. And she wants nothing to do with him. She has security at the airport escort him out.

This show is just one epic downer after another. (And in the meantime there's a guy in a desert with a gun pointed at his head! An Iranian woman's niece has been kidnapped and sent to Afghanistan to become a child bride and she's extorted to go with! After getting 30x lashings in Iran for a total nothingburger! And the French spy network gave her up to the Iranians after she escaped because they're just using people like tools and pawns. It's horrible! I need to see more.)

I keep wanting to send messages to Farya Faraji to ask what are the background music themes in Syria and Iran based on or if it's just generic bs
