Universal Music Group has announced the launch of a new classical music label, Mercury Classics.
The new label will be an artist and repertoire centre working with young artists and established musicians to ‘bring a distinctive and fresh perspective to classical music’.
Dr Alexander Buhr who has worked at Deutsche Grammophon for more than 10 years has been appointed managing director of Mercury Classics.
Buhr will continue to work with Milos and Tori Amos as joint ventures. Future projects are to be developed exclusively for Mercury Classics and will be announced in due course.
Interesting! So it seems Tori's next album will be released by Mercury Classics. I must say I originally wished the next album would be released at Deutsche Gramophone and Decca, like NoH, but it's still exciting to see what this new label will offer. They may kick off a great concept with the Tori release, that'd be something - huh?
