Reasons for failure (#2)
"Hot tubs are a great way to relax. Unfortunately, your septic system was not designed to handle large quantities of water from your hot tub. Emptying hot tub water into your septic system stirs the solids in the tank and pushes them out into the drainfield, causing it to clog and fail. Draining your hot tub into a septic system or over the drainfield can overload the system. Instead, drain cooled hot tub water onto turf or landscaped areas well away from the septic tank and drainfield, and in accordance with local regulations. Use the same caution when draining your swimming pool." -epa.gov
A couple things I took note of here: drainfield is the location of where your leach or lateral lines are located, distributing the liquid waste into the ground. And the second thing I noticed is the fact that emptying large quantities of water into your septic tank at once pushes the solids into these distribution lines that are only supposed to distribute liquids. This causes the lines to clog, nad that's where Septic Maxx comes in. Septic Maxx shocks your tank and boosts the bacterial count in order to help break down the solid waste, so it can be more easily distributed into the drain field!!!
