Hello!! I don't know if you remember me but I was the anon a while ago asking for writing advice. I've recently begun taking creative writing classes here at college and it's been going great. Thanks for the encouragement :))
But besides the update I wanted to ask for permission to take inspiration from your fic "Nativity of the Lamb" for a research paper on the use of 'dread' in fiction. How specifically dread can be wielded effectively by an author to create a very unique and effective hook. A hook where the reader knows vaguely how it will end but is entirely incapable of changing the inevitable outcome.
To be specific I'm talking about how you wrote Mesar and Shera and their inescapable fate. Playing Cult of the Lamb beforehand and reading your fics in the order I did truly made their fates so damn heart wrenching. Knowing they won't survive stained every single interaction and dialogue, a literal death sentence looming over them the whole story.
If you'd prefer to stay under the radar I would totally understand though. Just know you truly are a talented writer and an inspiration don't ever forget it :)
Hi there! Oh, I'm so glad you're you're pursuing writing and taking classes!!! I hope you have fun and learn a lot! Thank you so much for the update, I'm so happy to hear it.
As for your question, hell yeah, go for it! I think being cited in an academic paper is super cool, actually. Writing Shera and Mesar was wonderfully awful for that very reason, and I'm honored you think it's worthy of being used as an example.
Thank you so much for the update, for including me in your paper, and for your very kind words. It really made my day. <3
