{ и я }—- ‘ hey soldier. --you know, you have to stop cleaning that bike at some point, right? ‘
[ text; victor ] When I thought of you.
[ text ; steve ] Just thinking about me in general? Or thinking about me pushing you up against the wall?
[ text ; victor ] Victor...we have a problem. A huge, pulsating, and erect problem.
[ text ; steve ] Oh? And how did this problem arise?
This was not what I had in mind.
Agent Derek Hale of the Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement, and Logistics Division had wanted to visit Australia since he was only a child. He hadn't factored in that, as he waited in baggage claim, he would have been there to work or married. Even if it was for his cover. He doubted that Barton or Romanoff had been pushed into situations of this nature. He doubted that either of them had covers that included marriage. He already doubted the believability of his cover story because who would honeymoon in Australia?
Derek had been apart of the agency since Nick Fury had found him lost, and near wild in the woods when he was a child. Despite the risk, the Director had filed him under a Level 10 security clearance and started to train him. Adopted him. It wasn't everyday that S.H.I.E.L.D. came across a werewolf and had the chance to raise it for their cause. That was how many of the agents saw Derek - an experiment but he new that Fury saw him as more than that. He saw him as a son. It may have made a bit of sense why he had been asked to head this mission. The small spy ring with possible Hydia influence that had decided to setup its base in the Land Down Under. Code name Amazon. He ran down the briefing in his head. He may have no been happy about the assignment but Derek was a good agent. His only worry was how open minded would his partner for the mission be. The man came from a decade where homosexuality was underground, and in some parts of the United States against the law. He didn't know how well Steve Rogers - no, Steve Hale would adjust. That was the only unknown factor. It only made him more uneasy that they had to take a commercial flight and was placed seated away from each other. It didn't give him enough time to feel Rogers out. Gauge him. Derek would have to do that later.
On the next turn around the suitcases were slid onto the round about, and Derek stopped Steve coming toward him. It was time to play the part. Fury had been clear that while in the public eye, both he and Rogers had to appear to be the happy couple. A beaming smile replaced Derek's sour expression as he grabbed their cases and shook his head. "Where the hell have you been, babe?" He said through gritted teeth and plastic smile. "I was starting to think you got lost."
