Theory on leaf speak and the breath of evil
Leafspeak:
I have a few different theories:
- A mutation of the animus gene where it's only able to control plants (possibly it mutates to only control living things, and was then altered to not be able to control animals, either by other animus dragons or by selection where no one mates someone with that ability)
-could be that the nuclei of plants in the WoF universe are more sentient that ours, able to make minor decisions, and leafspeak is a link (similar to mind reading) that connected the dragons minds to the plant's nuclei, and encourages the plant to do as they want
-alternatively, when a leafspeak dragon instructs a plant to grow in a direction, it releases something very small (like trance amounts of type of element, atomic particle, or scent) to where it what's the plant to move, which attracts the plant and encourages it to rapidly move then grow (if it can't reach the location at its current size) in that direction Wings of fire magical ability theories:
The Breath of Evil:
-the breath of evil is clearly a Cordycep fungus that's spores tunnel into the control system of the dragons (through getting into their blood via being smelt or eaten) altering its purpose and making it grow where desired(like actual cordyceps do with animals)
-leafspeak could work similar to this, maybe a cordycep-like fungus exists in all plants on pantala (because the breath of evil was so successful that it covered the entire continent) which can control the movement of the plants, then specific leafwings with leafspeak might have this fungus fused with their minds (possibly there's a gene that makes a brain better at handling the fungi, explaining how the power is sometimes hereditary) and the fungi acts as a hivemind following the leafwings instruction to control the plants?

Post-priest Martin Septim gives biiiig soft dom vibes
When you bring him the Mysterium Xarxes and he says "By the Nine! Such a thing is dangerous even to handle! Forgive me. You were right to bring it. But you'd better give it to me."
Like oookay I am on my knees actually, and also you can lock me in a cage if you want

Episode 1: oh, August has a moth sewn into his back so he can fly, and he feeds it meat. That's pretty messed up and cool for a darker setting! Maybe this character is more morally grey than expected?
Episode 3: oh. August's moth was attached to him by his monstrous, abusive "Mother Queen", who likes to preform horrible medical procedures on those she finds interesting enough not to kill. Neither August nor the moth were willing participants, but they're attached to each other and the moth is alive, so August feeds it meat sometimes. Oh.
NOOOOO now I feel bad for the scorpion lmao 😭
