Hey guys, i thought i would share how i personally practice cartomancy!
cartomancy is an excellent way to start tarot for closet witches, or beginner witches in general <3
divination is all about how it works best for you, how it makes sense to you.
i use a combined two decks to form 74 cards, representing all the tarot cards, minus the page cards in the minor arcana.
The Minor Arcana deck consists of my Studio Ghibli playing cards. The Major Arcana is from my Steampunk playing card deck.
Spades represent Swords
Hearts represents Cups
Diamonds represents Pentacles
Clubs represents Wands
Pick one Joker to be the Fool, and the other Joker to be the World.
I read Jacks as Knights.
Aces, Kings, and Queens are all the usual.
Take your other card deck, grab 1-10 black cards and 1-10 red cards.
This is where you’re going to either need a pen to write on the cards, or you are going to write down in notes somewhere (in your phone or in a journal is fine) what each card represents in the major aracana.
For myself, I need subtlety. So what I did was write the roman numerals corresponding with the Major Arcana card on the bottom of the playing card. For example, The Magician is the first card, as The Fool is 0 (which is why that card is a Joker). So, I took my red 1 card and labelled it with the roman numeral for 1. I placed it on the bottom, and I’ll know it’s a reversed card if it is upside down.
After I get to 10, I took the black cards, 1 being 11, 2 being 12, writing their roman numerals on each!

After all of this is done, I make sure to keep a list of all the tarot cards’ meanings in my notes (I have them on my own google doc for reference). That way, I can look back at them any time I need to (which is quite often).

And there you go! This is my personal way of doing things, and i find it to be quite good. It is not the only way to practice with playing cards! But it has been working for me quite well. Feel free to let me know if you do this, and how it works for you <3
Bonus: I also use a Spirited Away playing card deck as Oracle Cards now, I use the imagery on each card to represent a message, and I interpret it how I understand that particular scene from the movie! Just another way of using playing cards to your advantage when you’re unable to use official oracle or tarot decks <3
sound cleansing is my favorite type of cleansing at this point, i have a little bell i use when i feel like there’s a lot of negative energy build up or negative spirits and it does the job quite well!
