On The Twitter Shit
Ok, so in this post I’m basically just going to say what i think about whats going on with the twitter shit, not that many people will see it, but still. So first of all, I’d like to say that I’m not sure how to feel about this whole thing... To be 100% honest, i think i’m definitely a lot less upset then a lot of other people are, but i am still upset, don’t get me wrong. Firstly, i think that we, as the tumblr fandom, have to take a tiny bit of the blame for whats going on, not because we aren’t in the right, but because it’ll open up twitter to do the same and create more opportunities for civil discourse. Admittedly, if i was a twitter fan and i saw that people were annoyed at me because calvin notices me, despite us being friends so of course he would notice me more, i would get mad at those people. HOWEVER, I AM NOT SAYING THAT WE CAUSED THIS... PEOPLE HAVE BEEN COMPLAINING ABOUT HIM NOTICING THE SAME PEOPLE FOR AGES, ON TWITTER, TUMBLR, FUCKING FACEBOOK PROBABLY. And yet, twitter targets us, because... They don’t like us? Seriously, what on earth do they have to be mad at us about? The things they are getting mad at us about either 1) have nothing to do with them, 2) are things that they themselves do often, or 3) are not specific to tumblr. A lot of the twitter fans immediately began attacking us and our blogs, for no apparent reason other than that they didn’t like us, which is obviously complete horseshit. That brings us to now, where calvin has still been tweeting those same twitter fans, the ones who are attacking us and generally just shitting all over the tumblr fandom, which in my opinion... Well... I actually kind of understand. These people are obviously his friends, and he probably hasn’t seen the other sides of the argument so all he knows is what they’ve been saying. That being said, i’m still pissed at him. He should be looking for both sides of the argument, even if he’s being fed one side by his twitter friends. He should be trying to find out what is happening in his fanbase, and looking at both sides of the story. In the highly unlikely situation that he did research it and still agreed with twitter, he shouldn’t be publicly saying so. We are all his fans, twitter and tumblr... We put time and energy showing our appreciation of his work, his humor, ect. I don’t want him to “side with tumblr,” or with twitter (of course i secretly want him to agree with us, but what i don’t want is for him to say so). If he sides with either of us, it’ll basically just turn the fandom into a shitshow, even more than it is now, and i don’t want that. If we are fighting, he should be trying to solve the problem, and show that he loves all of us, instead of doing what he’s doing now. I really hope he says something about this in his new video, and if he does, he will be supportive of all his fans, while also firmly telling everyone, twitter and tumblr, to fucking stop.
