Bits of glass

In the future

too much wine will be poured into the pan

eggs will be cracked asunder

eggs will be mentally counted from the position of the bed

glasses will be knocked from fold-up tables

we will exclaim at the length of each other's hair

  people will stand before heaters and flex at the knees

condensation will disappear first from the upper corners

of window panes

empty vacuum cleaners will suck better

towels will turn up folded, stacked and still warm

  music will be played from the latest technologies

wrapped in old-fashioned coloured foil

poly shirts will hang together in op shops for months

couch-dwellers will groom and purr like factories

breasts will swell

small children will share bronchitis

  dinner parties will be invented in conversation

singlets will shorten & twist

fingers will make the motions and thought

will periodically go back to time as you said

in a dream, it will be hard to go anywhere and

when falling asleep, the feeling of the past Spring will be

near impossible to recall
