1. You can feel good about helping preserve the language and potentially access to a written history that is otherwise ignored
2. Learning other languages in general is good for your brain and makes learning more languages easier
3. You can sext using it and it is highly unlikely someone looking at your phone will realise
4. You can put in on your CV and look all smart
5. Speaking a relatively uncommon language is like being in a secret club with the others who speak it, and who doesn't love a secret club?

When hearing about foreign language study programs, you may ask yourself, "Why is it important to learn a second language anyway?" There are actually a quite few profitable and practical reasons to learn a second language so let's jump right in!
Learning a second language is becoming a necessity to the business world. If you want to make more money and get paid to travel the world, become multi-lingual. There are SO many jobs out there looking for people to connect them with all sides of the globe. Those companies know how valuable a multi-lingual employee is and will compensate up to 20% more than a person who only knows one language.
The three languages I suggest learning to provide yourself with the best opportunities is Spanish, French, and Chinese; Spanish and French because of our neighboring countries and the close association we have with them and Chinese because so much technological advancement comes from that region. It would be very wise for a company to be on top of all three markets so they can take full advantage of the resources and opportunities found within those countries.
Even on the home front it is very important for you to learn a second language so you can communicate with the variety of people here. This works to your best advantage in industries like retail, hospitality, education, sales, financial, legal, agricultural, anything customer service related; the list can go on and on. In order for business to run smoothly internally and externally, all parties need to be able to understand one another.
When people shop, they need a knowledgeable salesperson who speaks their language to make sure they are buying the right product for their needs. When people dine, lodge or go out to have a good time, they need to be well accommodated for no matter what language they speak. People of all cultures need financial advice, legal representation, and the best customer service a company can offer. That is why it is extremely important to know a second or even third language if your work is in any of those fields.
Learning a second language will also give you the skills to speak with and understand the people in your own community. Think of your neighbors, your friends, different families you meet, etc. With the world being so diverse, it would almost be impossible to only interact with your own nationality.
Why would you even want to close your mind to diversity anyway? You could learn so much from another culture. Their values, customs, and beliefs could be more harmonious with yours and had you not known a second language, you would have never had anything to relate your beliefs to. It's human nature to want to feel a part of the whole.
That brings me to one more important reason to learn a second language-to find love! It has been recorded from surveys for dating services that a person who speaks more than one language is a much more sought after candidate. They are thought of as being more intelligent, more interesting, and more attractive.
When people look for mates, they search for qualities in others to fill their own voids. Just as a shy person will look for someone to bring them out of their shell, a person who only knows one language and finds an interest in other cultures will want someone to teach them their language so they can fully appreciate what their mate has to offer. People want to find someone who compliments their personalities, their interests, their views, etc.
You never know when that perfect opportunity for a better job or the love you've been searching for will come up so be prepared ahead of time. Isn't that important enough to learn a second language?
