Hi neighbor! (U.S.A - Mexico, get it?)  As much as I want to ask a lot of questions about grammar, it’s not often that I ask Naoto. When you think about it, do you really want a friend that only asks you questions about grammar? There’s tons of stuff that I/he can’t explain. So I look up info on the internet, or if I’m still confused, I ask him.

:D In that case, what about trying Hello Talk? I recently started to use it, and even I get ignored (a lot), occasionally there’s people willing to start a conversation. Also, I don’t have great connections as you might think. xD Sorry.

There’s a couple blogs on tumblr too that will take questions, so you don’t always have to look for a native speaker. Since we’re all learning together, right?

sorry if this is intruding, but how did you meet your boyfriend?? i'm learning japanese right now (and also improving my french) and i'd like to have penpals through line that is fluent in those languages to help me with my learning but how do i find them??

Not at all! I met him at a school library. I walked up to him, and said “Hey, are you my friend’s friend? Can I practice my Japanese with you?”We talked, he was charmed by my way with words (maybe?), I was too nervous to say anything, and our mutual friend played matchmaker. We then had some okonomiyaki, played some Pokemon Stadium, and I confessed to him. Here we are today. (:

Lang-8 ! Besides writing a few things, I never had a personal connection with anybody there, but if you want to practice writing, not a bad place. Potential friendship?

italki Never used this, but I saw this video about it. It pretty much is combines panpals/lessons/discussions/writing corrections, for various languages. French too!

HelloTalk Available as an app, connects you with people who want to learn your language.

Of course there are other sites too, but I would stay away from anything where you have to pay/be a premium member to initiate a conversation. Also be careful with giving out your information.

Hey ;-; I'm wanting to learn japanese but I do not have it at my school. Do you have any suggestions of where I could learn?

I think I’m the worst person to ask. D; I seriously have a hard time learning by myself. It wasn’t until I entered college where I actually started learning in a classroom setting. Then doing extra stuff helped reinforce what I learned.

It really depends on what kind of learner you are. For me, actual learning comes from textbooks. I’ve tried some online sites, but I don’t have one I can recommend strongly.

1) A good  textbook I hear a lot of good things from Genki, and  some from Minna no Nihongo. I personally used Yookoso! (Not sure how this will work with self-study, it doesn’t have the best reviews, but I think it has good explanations). Textbook suggestions anyone?

2) A notebookMake it a goal to practice every day. Set a goal like “ I’m gonna write this letter on 1/3 of the page” , “I’m gonna write/learn 5 words each day and I’m going to use them in 5 sentences”. Write down everything, even the instructions if you’re following the textbook!

3) Extra SuggestionsReview grammar. I like Maggie 先生 (has beginner grammar too)Look at Japanese children’s cartoons, baby books, songs (mimic everything you hear.)Record yourself reading/ speaking (I bought myself a voice recorder) Get a language partner to correct you/ talk with (Japan-guide ?)Use a dictionary ( Denshi jisho , Japanese dictionary on your phone)Surround yourself with Japanese learning blogs/twitter/instagram/ facebook/youtube/appsThe key is repetition, and set aside 30-60 minutes of studying per day if possible. If you’re starting out, I feel that this time is necessary. Again, this what I did to start learning. I spent hours looking at the same sentence, memorizing vocabulary, writing characters, singing the same song over and over… and 5 years later, I’m alright. D; Still not exactly great, but I think I’m slowly getting there.

I just got into LINE and it's the best messaging app I've ever used *-* but one sad thing: when I just go to know there was LINE Cafe, I couldn't find it anywhere. It doesn't exist anymore :/ did you use it? If so, do you recommend any other apps similar to it? Also, is there any LINE accounts you use to learn Japanese as well? Great tumblr, btw :D

Hey~, I’m not too sure about LINE Cafe, and just briefly looking, I couldn’t find it either. I did find something about Naver Cafe, but that was in Korean… ):As for LINE accounts, I don’t follow any. ^^; The majority of my learning comes from Youtube videos, and I follow Japanese artists on Instagram.

Also when I’m on my computer I use Rikai/ Rikaichan (Add-on for Firefox). EXTREMELY helpful when I’m trying to translate articles for myself. I believe there’s also an app, but I haven’t had the chance to try it out just yet.

Adobe joins hands with Learning Links to promote e-learning in India

  Adobe and Learning Links have jointly announced expansion of their collaboration to promote e-learning in the Indian education sector using Adobe Presenter tool that will help teachers create interactive eLearning content with ease, including multimedia elements and quizzes. Having impacted about 100 teachers to date, the programme is set to expand across the country and train over 400 teachers, impacting lives of about 6,000 students. Learning Links Foundation, with support from Adobe India, attempted to address this issue by training teachers to develop their own e-learning and teaching content using Adobe Presenter tool. The programme involved training government school’s teachers with advanced technology tools to develop subject-specific content for immediate classroom usage and integration.

Adobe India donated Adobe Presenter software kits to schools to support this initiative. In addition, Learning Links Foundation and experts from Adobe volunteered their time to train teachers from eight selected schools across India. Tridib Roy Chowdhury, Senior Director, Adobe India, said, “We are glad to be associated with this unique initiative by Learning Links Foundation as it strengthens our commitment towards the Indian education sector. At Adobe, it has been our continuous endeavour to create industry- leading e-learning tools to enable educators to overcome content-related challenges and make teaching and learning practices more effective......See More
