Education in Dantewada, Chhattisgarh, suffered due to a lack of infrastructure, left-wing extremism (LWE) and violence.
To protect students from LWE activities, provide a safe zone and end the destruction of concrete structures, the school board decided to build schools out of ply and bamboo building materials that rebels cannot tamper with.
These schools have helped bring back out-of-school children and improve the enrolment and retention rate in the district.
