Malo e lelei! Happy Tongan Language week! To celebrate Lea Faka-Tonga, our tamariki will be learning one Tongan work and phrase every day. Our first word is "Felotu’aki" which means the process of praying for each other especially during unprecedented times. This year’s theme for Uike Kātoanga’i ‘o e lea faka-Tonga - Tonga Language Week is Fakakoloa 'o Aotearoa 'aki 'a e Ako Lelei, which means enriching Aotearoa with holistic education. Today our tamariki will be making their very own Tongan fan. What they need is the following: Paper or any cardboard (empty muesli/cereal/drink box) Scissors Glue stick or cellotape Coloured pens Leaves and flowers from outside to decorate fan Small stick for the handle, can be a small stick/popsicle stick A reminder that our short prayer for our family, friends and community is: Dear Jesus, please look after all our family & friends during Covid. Amen Daily mat-times at 10.30am & 1.30pm. See you on Zoom.
Spring is here!! We are so lucky to have had some special visitors today!A big Thank you to Daisy’s family for bringing in their pet lambs!
Messy play experiences allow tamariki to explore, identify and investigate with their bodies senses. Although ‘MESSY’ these can provide many rich learning opportunities for tamariki. We would love to see photos of your tamariki engaging with the experiences you have created at home.
Welcome Marjan to our Toddlers Room.Kia ora, my name is Majran. I am originally from Persia. A beautiful country which is famous for hospitable and kind people. I have been in NZ since 2016 with my husband. I have a Graduate Diplomat of Early Childhood Teaching from Waikato University. I have 10 years experience working with children. I really love my job and it is my biggest pleasure to spend my time with children. I am passionate about teaching children and believe in supporting them with learning and development as they grow to be competent young people in our society. I love supporting children to build their self-esteem and confidence, so they feel accepted, valued and proud of who they are and what they can do. I am kind, friendly, generous and energetic. I love dancing, listening to music and spending time with my family and friends.
Some great ideas from our friend John Cowan
We are excited that our forest programme for Preschool is underway. Children are getting to go into nature and are exploring the flora and fauna. This is a great opportunity for our tamariki to enjoy learning to become independent in an unstructured environment and know the benefits of being in nature. Taking the bus was also a highlight
