“god, i seriously wish you would stop saying that.” alice groaned, slumped back against the far side of the cell away from the open window. she wouldn’t have come back if she’d remembered the damn house still had what was essentially a prison in it’s basement. “i don’t need a fucking babysitter, your sister already took my ring. i’m the one that’s not going anywhere.”

“i’m not lying, josie.” alice insisted, laughing at the younger woman’s choice of words. she wasn’t lying exactly, just fudging the truth a little. it was hard to explain what she’d been doing looking through the salvatore school’s archives. she was looking for something very specific, but getting into why that specific item would even be here required way more energy than alice had and way too much looking into the past for her tastes. “i’m just looking for some light reading.”
