.@allyouneedisash worked at the #bootblack stands at #dorealley2022 for the first time this year, and enjoyed this #cigar after the shift. Illford HP5 pushed to 800. CW for faggotry and horrible stitching (this is to scare away the cowards)
I won this vest at a silent auction at LLC for $25 buckaroos and I'm going to make it the best dog vest ever. My Leather and Therian sides are very intertwined, wearing a leather vest or jacket makes me feel very very connected to both my queer contemporaries and my theriotype, as well as my service to my owner. It signals to everyone around me that I am a dog, an alpha, and a beloved pet.
So what I want to add is the following:
- sewing on Velcro onto the vest so I can switch up my patches any time (permanence scares me and iron on glue ruins leather)
- so many service dog patches, just so many because they fit so well
- chains
- pocket accents (last minute addition because I saw a cute fabric square at Michaels for $2.00)
- shit tons of queer patches
So obviously, instead of cleaning it up first and conditioning it, I went in ass first and started sewing the pocket. But it turns out, sewing through leather is SUPER HARD. My fingers started to hurt trying to push through the first hole, so I took a pair of wire cutters (which are basically pillars right? Totally.) And started stitching away.
Over the course of 2-3 hours I broke 3 needles. It was frustrating but the end result turned out cute
Fuck yeah paw prints. Next I got this chain I got for $2.69 at home Depot and started sewing that in too. This was easier but the little links have tiny gaps in them I'm going to have to get actual pilers to squeeze together, or sew them in a way where they won't shift around.
I also put little chains on the pockets to cover up my shitty stitches. Next, as you can see this shit is dehydrated as fuck. So I did a nice little clean with glycerin soap and some Huberds show grease. (I think I'm spelling that right.
Aw yeah look how shiny that is. This is the progress I've made so far I'm gonna update this post once I get my patches, I want to wait to add the Velcro until then. 👢🐕
1) a functional, but untenable state of affairs..... #leatherperson 2) look at these tiny, imprecisely cast screws (that pulled out of their holes in the lid of the pepper grinder) .... 3) new holes drilled, all fixed! the only embarrassing thing is that this repair took me two weeks to finally do... so it goes. at least it's done now!
