“NO Mabel, Waddles is like, NOT going to be the best man at our wedding.”

“What did you see that was so bad inside of the portal- Grunkle Ford din’t knock in you on PURPOSE, right?”
Fiddleford sucked in a breath, his eyes widening slightly. He probably should’ve expected one of the twins would ask the question sooner or later. He couldn’t blame her. She was just curious.
“H-he... didn’t,” Fiddleford said, his voice trembling despite trying to hold himself together.
Don’t think about it. Don’t think about it.
“He’s the one who pulled me out, after all...”
She wanted to know what he saw.
Don’t think about it. Don’t think about it.
How could he explain it when he couldn’t even comprehend it? How could he even begin to describe the things he saw? Darkness that moved and pulled, the many writhing things, squelching, the teeth, were they teeth-
Oh God, it was coming back. He felt his heart beating in his chest, and sweat starting to drip down his brow.
“I can’t. Can’t-” It was like a heavy pressure had bared down on him and refused to leave, and he was falling apart, and he couldn’t fall apart in front of Mabel, not right now...
Don’t close your eyes. Don’t. Don’t close them.
He tried to catch his breath and turned away from Mabel; his posture tense. “Can’t, um, remember all that well, I mean.” He wished he didn’t remember. He needed to breathe. Just a few breaths. He just needed to remember to breathe. “It was, uh, bad... really, um, bad. M-maybe we should talk about somethin’ else.”

“Doesn’t it ever bother you Grunkle Ford just, let you get thrown out? I know he was mad about his college entrance- if Dipper ever did that to me I’d give him a black eye.
But I wouldn’t let our parents just dump him on the street. That’s how you get kidnapped and forced to smuggle mysterious drugs in your kidney over an airplane flight. They did it to Scarlet Johanson and she just- vaporized. ”
He couldn’t help but cringe. It had bothered him. It had bothered him a lot. And maybe... maybe, it would always bother him. It seemed like he hadn’t even tried to stand up for him...
“I, uh, y’know, that’s really complicated.”
It also wasn’t exactly something he felt comfortable talking about. Feelings, in general, were difficult to talk about.
“Fun fact about smuggling kidneys, though, aluminum foil does NOT help keep them fresher longer. Ahaha... aha....”
@leavethattomabel
“In my defense, I was trying to make him squishy-er.”

Stan looked down at one of a number of sweaters Mabel had knitted him over the years. It seemed like summer never seemed to come back fast enough. Sure, traveling around the world with his brother was a dream come true, but that didn’t mean he missed the kids any less than he did. He tried to call them every chance he got; though, that wasn’t always possible when an anomaly was affecting his ability to make calls or the area didn’t have any service or very little service.
He was glad this was not one of those times. He pulled up Mabel’s number on the smartphone he barely knew how to use and waited for it to pick up.
“Hey, pumpkin! Hope I’m not calling at a bad time; you know I still don’t get how these time zones work. Also last time I called we were in a spot where apparently time didn’t happen, and it was this whole thing that I really don’t understand, but anyway- How’ve you been?”
