(srry I made this at like 3:55 in the morning in my area so I'm tired ;-;)

Rodger was hunched over his notebook again, muttering under his breath and flipping through pages with increasing frustration.

“Case number 48B… suspect: possibly Cosmo? No. That wouldn’t—hmm. Then perhaps—”

“Ughhh,” came a voice from behind. “Again with the muttering? Honestly, darling, do you ever relax? You’re going to get lines around that lens if you keep squinting like that~”

Rodger sighed and glanced up. “Glisten, I’m trying to concentrate. Kindly do not interrupt—”

“Oh no, no, no~” Glisten huffed dramatically, flouncing forward with his microphone tucked under one arm and his frilly bow bobbing as he moved. “This won’t do. You’re all stiff and miserable! You need a break!”

“I don’t take breaks,” Rodger stated plainly, flipping a page. “Now if you’ll excuse—”

Poke.

Rodger froze.

“…What was that.”

Glisten’s smile turned positively feline. “Nothing~ Just admiring the adorable flutter you did right there~”

Rodger adjusted his coat. “Touch me again and I’ll—GHK—!”

Too late. Glisten gently scribbled right under the band around Rodger’s handle.

“AHA! A reaction!” he gasped, eyes sparkling with pure chaotic delight.

“GLIHIHSTEN NO—!!”

“Oh ho ho~ So that’s where you’re hiding it~” Glisten cooed, circling behind and giving the spot a few more precise wiggles.

Rodger jolted and clamped his hands over his nonexistent mouth. “D-Dohohon’t—!! IHIHI swEAR if you—!!”

“Tut tut~ You’re always so uptight,” Glisten giggled, now skittering up Rodger’s sides with infuriatingly graceful fingers. “Consider this performance therapy.”

“Y-YOU CAHAHALL THIS THERAPY???”

“Of course! You’re laughing, aren’t you? Giggle cleansing~ Very popular technique~”

Rodger snorted. A genuine, unfiltered snort that made Glisten gasp dramatically.

“OHOHO!! Was that a snort?! Oh my stars~ You really were overdue for this!”

Rodger was losing his mind.

His jacket had been flung open, Glisten was absolutely relentless with his scribbly little finger flutters, and the worst part? He was narrating the whole thing like it was a musical number.

“Here we see Detective Rodger, strong and cold, reduced to a pile of giggles bold~” Glisten chimed in sing-song. “Squeaky and twitchy, all wiggly and weak, thanks to one talented mirror so chic~!”

“IHIHI WIHIHILL END YOU—!!”

“No you won’t, darling~ You’ll just laugh~ 💕”

Rodger was on the floor now. Wiggling. Defeated. His precious notes in a crumpled heap beside him while Glisten casually dusted glitter off his fingers like nothing had happened.

“Now,” Glisten purred, fluffing his bow, “wasn’t that marvelous? I do believe I’ll take my bow now~”

Rodger wheezed. “I’m… going to… add you to… my suspect list…”

“You already did~ Twice~ 💖”

A Ticklemare in Gardenview (Rodger)

Part of a series called "A Ticklemare in Gardenview"

Rodger liked keeping his serious and somewhat-stoic detective composure. But much like a crook with a bank safe, a certain moon was going to crack it wide open...

The detective had made his way into the museum with the goal of catching one "Phantom Luna", who had announced his plan to seize the museum's newest addition: A beautiful blue moonstone.

But not if Rodger could get there first...

Quickly, he ran into the room where the moonstone would be on display, hoping to see it still in it's protective glass case.

To his dismay...it was empty, with only a note in it it's place. It was written in blue ink, with a crescent moon stamped onto it.

"You're too late detective. But if you want it back, come and find me~."

At the end of the note was a clue, which Rodger, clever as he always was, deciphered it as leading towards one of the empty exhibit areas, where a new addition had yet to be added.

The detective walked slowly and with caution through the empty room, stopping on a grey panel on the floor.

This proved to be a big mistake however, as the panel gave out, causing Rodger to fall in. But luckily, without a scratch, as instead he found himself rising back up...this time strapped to a frame, much like he was a painting on display.

"Wha?! What is the meaning of this?!" Rodger asked in bewilderment of his awkward and absurd situation.

Then, a couple clicks of the tongue were heard as a figure emerged from the shadows.

"Well, well, well detective, looks like you fell right into my trap..." It was "Phantom Luna", dressed in a fancy tuxedo, a cape that covered his arms, and a top hat.

"Ngh-Astro?!" responded the detective as he tried to break from his bonds, to no avail.

Astro gave a little chuckle "Looking for this, perhaps?" he said as he took off his hat with his magic, revealing the moonstone.

"Ngh-You won't get away with this!" said Rodger as he wiggled his arms and legs in another vain attempt to escape.

"Still serious as ever..." responded Astro "Let's see you say that after I do...this!"

Then right on cue, Astro summoned two glowing blue hands to scribble on Rodger's sides. The detective attempted to hold in his laughter, with only snickering escaping from his mouth.

"*snrk* Ahastro *snrk* Nohoho...." Rodger said as he tried to keep his composure.

Astro gave a little hum in response "Something wrong, detective?" he teased as the hands continued to spider up Rodger's sides. "It seems you're cracking under the pressure..."

"Quhihiet youhou! *snrk* Just gihive it bahack!" Chuckled the detective, clinging onto his last shred of seriousness.

"Oh I don't think I will~" Astro replied "At least, not until I finish my masterpiece..."

Astro summoned a blue glowing feather to trace along Rodger's tummy, not unlike a paintbrush on a canvas. And just like that, Rodger's once hard-boiled demeanor folded like a house of cards.

"EEk! NOhoho! WHAHahahy are YOhoHOU DOhohoing thIHIS to-EEK! MEhehe?!" laughed Rodger, trying to keep up his sophisticated persona even the mist of his laughter.

"You always look so stressed..." Astro replied as he continued to "paint" "So busy, so serious, so tired..."

"So I think it was about time you had a good laugh~"

"AHA! coHOHME on! thIHIHIS is EMBAHAHAHAHAHARSING!" the detective howled as he wiggled in his restraints, trying his hardest to get away from the feather.

"I can see why~" teased Astro "You're laughing a lot for someone used to say they weren't ticklish..."

Oh that did it, now the detective's face had gone tomato red.

"Just STAHAHahap alreHEHEHad-eek! And LEHEHEHET meheheHEHEHE goHOHOHOho!" pleaded Rodger

"Not yet, detective~" Astro replied. "I still have to do the finishing touches~" the glowing hands made their way down to Rodger's feet and the feather traced up to his neck.

"Ahahaha!-AhahaHAHAHAH!!!" Hollered Rodger, now at a loss for words, knowing that the only thing he could do was allow Astro to finish his "masterpiece".

With a final stroke of the "brush" and a final giggle from the magnifying glass, Astro had finished the museum's newest masterpiece: The Ticklish Detective.

Rodger kneeled to the ground to recollect himself after being released from the restraints. Once he had caught his breath, he noticed a shimmering blue glow...

The moonstone! Right in his grasp! As well as another note, stamped with the same blue crescent moon as before.

"Until next time. Good night, and sweet dreams~"

Rodger looked up to see an opened window nearby, with the moon shining right through it. Looks like Phantom Luna had already made his escape...

The detective gave a defeated sigh, at least he had succeeded in securing the moonstone, even if it was by...unorthodox methods. Still, ending up at the mercy of your thieving adversary? How embarrassing...

"Next time, Phantom Luna..." Rodger muttered "I'll be the one to catch you..."

And if he did, he would be getting the last laugh, but for very different reasons...
