these aren’t in any order, just of how they came to mind!
The Bone Houses
this book is more horror than romance! the romance is more of a gradual thing that appears at the end
the author does a really great job of world building and detailing without confusing the shit out of you lol
the horror aspect really does have you wondering what’s gonna happen next and makes you want to keep reading, that sounds so cliché, but i swear i remember being so invested in this book
definitely one of the best books i’ve ever read, it may get a little slow, but i promise it’s worth it
Every Summer After
okay this is definitely more of my basic white girl taste but i swear for hopeless romantics this is GREAT
my only negative comments are it gets a little weird about some teen puberty stuff that we didn’t need fr idk why adults write us like this
the build up, the spacing, GREAT. the “plot twist” (its hinted at first chapter, it’s the big secret) comes to light at the end and it is a little like OMFG TELL ME ALREADY but you do kinda get a sense for what it is, and you’re filled with dread and shock and it’s awesome

male protagonist actually doesn’t do that much bad???
female protagonist gives you second hand embarrassment a handful of times but it’s manageable fr she’s not too insufferable for once!
The Great Gatsby and The Outsiders
i don’t think i need to gas these more than american public school does
First to Die at the End and They Both Die at the End
gay men 💯💯💯💯 (i am bi man fyi LMAOO)
absolutely devastating
although remembering the different pov’s can be a bit hard, i do love seeing both sides and sides of people who aren’t even the two main characters, i think that’s really sick
these get SLOW so i wouldn’t blame you if you speedran the middle
A Shot in the Dark

steamy the whole time without being just fifty shades of grey and it’s so good
the plot is actually so so good
JEWISH REP!!!! it talks so much about jewish culture which was so refreshing!! however i’m not jewish myself so i can’t say if it’s accurate or not
rep for past addicts as well! the main character’s story is so interesting and the pacing of which it’s told is so well done
i probably have more but that’s it for now!!
