he  was  a  pickpocket.  a  good  one     ,      at  that.  his  lifts  were  decent    ...     and  they  should  be  considering  he’d  been  doing  it  half  his  life.  but  he  hadn’t  expected  her  to  notice.  she  turns     ,     he  almost  drops the  cash  in  hand     ,      but  tucks  the  bills  into  his  front  pocket  with  lightning  reflexes.  maybe  she  didn’t  notice.      ❝     uh.  sorry     ,     ma’am     ...      ❞     ma’am     ?    she  looked  to  be  as  young  as  he was.   and  he  couldn’t  even  think  of  an  excuse  so  on  the  spot.     /     @legacysaint​.

they’re  laying  on  their  sides     ,     facing  one  another     ,     sam’s  hand  raised  and  soft  fingertips  trailing  along  her  arm.  something  calming.  a  tongue  darts  out  to  lick  his  lips  and  he  breathes  in  through  his  nose  before  speaking.      ❝     y’know      ———     rené  belloq     ?     yeah.  he  was  a  total  asshole.    ❞

he  laughs.  a  huff.  a  shake  of  his  head.  she  really  didn’t.  samuel  had  always  been  trouble     ...     even  if  that  trouble  was  sometimes  for  the  right  reasons.  which  is  exactly  what  most  of  his  teenage  years  had  been.  he  meets  her  eyes     ,     smiles  just  a  little.      ❝     that’d  be  a  mistake.     ❞     samuel  reaches     ,     toying  at  the  straw  currently  sticking  out  of  his  very  flat  pepsi.  the  diner  surrounding  them  derelict  at  4:08AM  aside  from  the  waitress  that  kept  coming  back  asking  if  he  needed  a  refill.      ❝     i’m  already  a  bad  influence  on  you  t’begin  with.     ❞     his  smile  grows  to  a  grin     ,     and  he’s  shooting  a  wink  in  her  direction.

treasure  hunting  had  turned  to  explorations     ...     not  really  looking  for  an  end  goal     ,     but  still  appreciating  the  little  things  that  were  found.  forgotten  jewels     ,     dirty  doubloons    ,     or  old  cutlery  from  a  different time.  exploration  was  much  more  satisfying  than  treasure  hunting  had  ever  been.      ❝     —————     yeah.  she’s  a  looker.     ❞     he  brought  in  a  soft  breath     ,     and  exhaled.  he’d  never  get  used  to  these  moments.
