Harris has many 1sts to her name being the 1st African-American woman DA of San Francisco and now she is the first Indian-American and 1 of the first bi-racial women elected to serve in the US senate this year! Many around the world may not have heard of Adwoa Safo, Ghana's newly minted Deputy Majority Leader, but much like Kamala Harris she is a former lawyer using her voice in politics to shake things up in representation of the people. Safo is the daughter of Prophet Safo-Kantanka- 1 of Ghana's richest men and innovator and champion of home grown African Technology who is now manufacturing cars in Ghana. Like Harris, Safo is a fighter -a trait taken from her mother's Eastern Region side. Adwoa Safo is never detoured from the patriarchy of her nation and parliament as she stands firm for more women to be given opportunities to attain government contracts equal to men, as well as attain opportunity and positions in parliament and all walks of life in celebration and honor of their contribution to their nation. She was unafraid to be the only woman in the room with a voice to tell an Arab ambassador that his nation in sharing ideas and working with Ghana should take Ghana's lead and push for more women to have a voice in their government. Watching the faces of the men as she stood stone face without a coy smile or laugh to ease their discomfort on the subject matter was priceless! Harris and Safo are ones to watch because they both have the potential to take the highest seat of office in my two nations, and I am glad to bearing witness to their greatness!
