I love when people see a Star Trek species that looks like a humanoid with half the show's budget plastered on their face in the form of silicone and paint and they say "Oh yes this is great. But what if it was an animal". So here's my Cardassian.

They move kind of like very agile bears: mostly on all-fours, but easily capable of standing on two legs. Their hair benefits from regular sand baths.

Garak - American alligator

Short, stocky but built powerful. Deceivingly strong, deceivingly dangerous. Thick neck and long muscular thick tail. Broad back with large ancient beast armor scales drown spine. A terrifyingly polite permanent smile filled with sharp teeth. Stealthy hunter makes a careful agent.

Dukat - black mamba

Long, tall, elegant, venomous mouth full of lies. Smooth scaled, large eyes for small prey. A dangerous smile that reminds you why you don’t trust him. Long tail that gleams under light. He looks like he is daring you to get too close.

Damar -Komodo dragon

Tall, muscular, powerful, built to fuck up something far bigger than him. Like Garak he has more ancient looking scales, like something that swam millions of years ago. Menacing stare and aura, BIG clawed hands/feet. Intimidating stature and mysterious expression. Mouth full of serrated teeth. Gives off, do not approach.
