Greetings from The Legendary Awards Co-Ambassadors Did you know..... Visionary, Philanthropist and Entrepreneur, Rhonda Wilkins introduced the Legendary Awards to the City of Atlanta in 2010 shortly after being approached by NBA Hall of Famer, Dominique Wilkins to coordinate a memorable 50th birthday celebration. The idea of celebrating milestones in the career of legends emerged as a vision that turned into a reality. In 2011, the Legendary Health Initiative was launched to provide education, prevention, awareness, advocacy and improved access to care to Georgian residents lacking access to quality healthcare, pre-screening diagnosis, and health screenings. The Legendary Awards has been recognized with a Proclamation by the City of Atlanta City Council for contributions to the arts, health and humanities, the Legendary Awards presents awards for categories such as Humanitarian, Spotlight, Legendary, Pioneer, Media Icon, Lifetime Achievement, Human Highlight and Spotlight. ​Since it’s inception, John Wilkins formed a steering committee which implemented a few additional programs and initiatives that would help to raise awareness and funds for research for healthy living. We are looking to expand to help other organizations as we have been granted our 501 C 3 status for the Legendary Awards Foundation. Introducing The @LegendaryAwards #Health Award recipient Mr. John Haupert John Haupert is President and CEO of Grady Health System in Atlanta, GA. Haupert began his tenure at Grady in October 2011. Grady Health System is the safety net healthcare system serving Fulton and DeKalb Counties in Georgia. Grady is the primary Level I trauma center and burn center for the Atlanta metropolitan area. In addition, Grady is home to many nationally recognized clinical services including the Marcus Neuroscience and Stroke Center, the Correll Cardiac Center, the Georgia Cancer Center and Grady EMS. Grady also serves as the primary training site for the Morehouse and Emory Schools of Medicine. Haupert is a board certified Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives and recipient of the ACHE Regent’s Leadership Award. Haupert served as an ACHE Regent and on the Nominating Committee. John serves on the Board of Trustees and is Chair-Elect of the Georgia Hospital Association. John also serves on the Board of Directors for the Georgia Alliance of Community Hospitals. He is a member of the Board of Directors for the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce and is a member of the Rotary Club of Atlanta. He also serves as a member of the Board of Directors for The Atlanta Committee for Progress. In 2015, John was appointed by Governor Nathan Deal to serve as a member of the Board of the Georgia Department of Public Health. John is also Chairman of the Advisory Board for The Healthcare Institute at Georgia State University. Nationally, John serves on the Board of Trustees of the American Hospital Association as well as on the AHA’s Regional Policy Board. John is also Immediate Past Chairman of the Board of Directors of America’s Essential Hospitals.
