What if Link’s lover was someone sent by the goddess to watch and lead Link in the right direction and therefore has some sort of power gifted by the goddess herself and they used it to protect Link but he didn’t know that they had it? Sorry if that doesn’t make sense but I just absolutely adore your writing and want to see what you come up with.

You came tothe point you wanted to hide your mission. Everyone else would think you onlywould do your task. It is but you truly wanted to do it.
The dayspassed and the soul didn’t show up. You got a bit impatient and nearly losthope when you had a warm feeling in your body.
You hadgiven the horses their food when you hear some footsteps and then a travelerwas before you. He was a bit taller than you and had a normal posture. His hairwas long and in a ponytail, two bangs hang around his face – it was blond witha golden touch in the sunlight. His eyes were clear blue like the ocean youonce saw. You could see his confusion and fear in it. His face had a neutralexpression. However, you could read he wasn’t quite sure what he exactly shoulddo. He was kind of lost. His dirty clothes and the messy state of his hairreinforced it.
The momentyou saw him you knew – He was the soul the voice was talking about.
“Hello” yousaid to him and put an honest smile on your lips. “How can I help you?”
He lookedstraight into your face which embarrassed you a little. It’s the first timesomeone looked at you.
He noddedand put out a slate. He showed you some points on a map. You had a feeling hewanted to travel to this locations.
“Oh, I knowthe places you want to travel” you said and you could see how glad he was. “Ican show you around if you want. It can help you when you travel between theselocations”
He was abit unsure. “Maybe you sleep over my offer. The sun set and please don’t beoffended when I say you look quite horrible…” You had noticed his bags underhis eyes and the growling sound of his stomach couldn’t be unheard. He wasreally a bit lost with everything.
He paid fora night and you could watch how he went to the little bath, how he ate and ofcourse how fast he fall asleep. You only knew him for hours but you could feelhe is a good person who had going through too much. Even without the voicetelling you, you would help him as much as you could.
You went toyour own bed with a good feeling and smile.
He acceptedyour offer and you accompany him. The first destination was Kakeriko. It wasnear the stable but the way through the mountains could be exhausting.
It was aquiet way between you. You didn’t mind. He was confused and didn’t really knowwhat he should do.
It made youpensive with the words of the voice. His soul reincarnate every time an evilwas facing. You knew from your parents about the calamity ganon and the storiesaround the champions. The voice said the soul nearly died, so you guessed itwas horrible for him to lose his companions and the landscape to the evil andnow his memories. Deep inside, there was an urge to help but everything seemednot enough without the memories. It made you sad. You could only imagine howmuch he had suffered in this life. It was now important to lean your hand tohim.
You arrivedat Kakeriko and you could watch how he went to a house with some sheikahguardians. You feel you should wait for him. Because it seemed rude to observehim all the time.
Youcollected your thoughts about him.
He was thehero and one of the champions who fought the calamity. But the plan failed. Heslept a long time and needed his old condition back. He couldn’t do it aloneand you wanted to do everything what could help him.
It tooksome time when he poked your shoulder. Now he wanted to go to a bridge by theLanayru Heights. You nodded and showedhim the way.
Thisjourney was also a quiet one, but shorter and the outcome was different. Whenyou arrived, he closed his eyes for a bit. Suddenly he falls on the ground. Hiswhole body was shaken and you could see the fear and shock in his blue eyes. Itparalyzed him to move. Which was bad because some bokoblins noticed you and ranto you.
You actedwithout thinking. You jumped next to him and took him in a deep hug with yourleft arm. You stretched out your right arm in the direction of the monsters andconcentrate.
It was toofast to notice for the normal eyes. A light shock wave came out of your hand.It threw the monsters in the air and when they hit the ground, they changed inpurple smoke.
You wereastonished by yourself you could do this. Maybe that was it the voice mean. Butyou hadn’t the time to celebrate yourself. You feel how he gripped you andreturned the hug, so you put the right arm also around him.
You feelhow much he trembled. He said nothing but you feel he was glad there wassomeone who catch him. While you continued the hug, you heard the voice again.

He was ahuge foodie. You were astonished how much and how fast he could eat. You couldcook for a whole village and he would be still hungry. It was a bit amusingwhen he waited impatiently for your cooking. The sincere smile you got gave youa fuzzy feeling.
He had alittle dorky personality. Sometimes you had a feeling you accompanied him onlyto prevent him to do something very dump. There was one time he tried to fightthe chicken. After the “encounter of strength” how he called the fight, hewanted some honey apples. It was quite hilarious how fast he runs away from thebees. You thought if the goddess who watched both of you would facepalm herselfsometimes.
You had toadmit Link was an attractive man. You knew you were fascinated by him since theday the voice told you about him. But there was also another thing whichattracted you. It was the so-called nature between individuals – Love. Hislooks and his characters made you fall for him every day more and more.
At thebeginning you were a bit unsure about your feeling. There was a moment youbelieved the feelings only come from your purpose. But it wasn’t it.

Therewas also a moment he was depressed and sad – When he took his head on yourshoulders and you stroke over his back, you could feel how his bad thoughts whotorture him went away. But everyone lead to the same point: Protecting him fromany harm. It was a miracle to you he didn’t notice them. It made you glad youwere a huge help for him.
You alsohelped him finding the right way. With his memory loss, he had last a bit theorientation. He was glad you had a little knowledge where to go. It preventedhim sometimes to go random in a circle.
You grewcloser from day to day. You were glad the voice talked to you. You couldn’timagine a day without him. However, you realize a problem which troubled youmore and more.
It seemedunfair in your eyes Link didn’t know about the voice. But you didn’t know howyou could tell him. Every way leads in a scenario where he left you. It wassomething you didn’t want. He had a right to know it.
It playedin your cards when he told you his final plans to defeat the calamity.

You onlynodded and kissed him deeply before he made himself ready to go to the castle.You were a bit afraid of him. You knew he was ready. He defeated the divinebeasts and a lot of his memories were back. You could read his determination inhis eyes to fulfill his purpose.
You waitedhours after he left. You had promise him to stay but you could not. You knewyou could not fight ganon and this was okay. It didn’t change the fact youcould fight the enemies around the castle. And you fought against them.
You usedyour abilities as good as you could. It went well…too well in your opinion.Everything happened faster as you could see it.
You feel asharp pain at your chest and your vision blurred out. You were sad. Youpromised him to stay safe but now, you weren’t able to see him again.
Link wasindeed successful. He could ganon in his two states and now, he stood withZelda before the destroyed castle.
He feelshow a lot of pressure fall from his shoulders. But he couldn’t stop thinkingabout your well-being. Zelda also noticed the change in his face.

He laid your head on his knees and checked your body for injuries.There was a huge blood spot by your chest. But he couldn’t find any wound. Hisworry melted completely away when you slowly opened your eyes.
Your visionwas a bit blurred, so you didn’t recognize him at first. You feel a soft touchwho put some hair strains out of your face. You know this touch well. It couldonly be him. You were a bit confused. You were sure you died…so why he was byyour side?
“You’reawake” you heard him saying. His voice trembled a bit and you questionedyourself why.
You wantedto get up, but your body feels too heavy.
“It’s okay”he said when you put your head down. You really wanted to talk to him. However,you were too tired at the moment, so you fall asleep.
When youwoke up again, you noticed immediately you were in Link’s house in Hateno. Youwatched around to find him next to you sleeping. You smiled by his peacefulsleeping face. You wanted to admire it a little longer. However, he moved and stretcheda bit. He yawned and looked still sleepy at you.
“Morning”he murmur to you. “Do you feel better?”
You nod andsmiled at him. He returned your smile. Then you remembered some things andlooked serious at him. “I am not dead, right?”
Link lookedconfused by your question. “Why do you ask?”
“The lastthing I remember was a pain in my chest. Someone stabbed me” you said and checkedyourself. No injuries.
“I thinkthe goddess healed you”
You jumpeda bit by his calm answer. How did he know? He saw your glance and justchuckled.
“It talkedto me after I started searching you” he started. “They…told me everything”
Suddenlyyou feel worried. You didn’t really read his face what he thinks about.
“I…I wasmad at the beginning. And…And I feel betrayed. But they also said they neverintended your deep bond” He leans his forehead against yours. “I really did notknow what I should think now about our relationship. But on the way to you…Idon’t want it to end. You helped me and I am so glad for it. I was not sure ifI could defeat ganon without everything you did for me. I don’t want to losethat”
Your heartbeat faster with every word he said. His words touched you really deep.
“The lastthing they said was I deserved to be happy” Link looked now straight into youreyes. “And I want to be happy with you. It’s true the goddess send you. But Iam very thankful now they did it. You’re the best what could happen in my life”
You didn’trealize you started to cry from his words. The idea he could left you was awayand you were full of joy. So you jumped at him. Both of you fall out of the bedand well, the landing was for him a bit harder than for you. But he did not getthe chance to say something when you started placing little smooches on hisface. You feel his grip around your waist.
You twolaid there for a bit before getting up.
You were soglad everything went well. You fulfilled your purpose. Now you could start apeaceful live with him – The soul you should protect and guide – The soul youfall in love with – The soul of the legendary hero of Hyrule…You could be happywith Link.
