“ why can’t you look me in the eye? ” -Julie (legions-tape)
Susie knew why she couldn’t look the other in the eye, but found it all too embarrassing to admit aloud. Julie is her best friend, but what Susie could say next, very well might disappoint her. Maybe expected? But disappointed nonetheless. Susie knew out of the entire group, she’d probably be considered the weakest link. Even before the Entity’s realm, that was proven to be true. Never had the courage to finish what they started, only really going to prove herself when no one else was around.
Still not making eye contact, the younger legion member looked at the ground, nervously twirling a strand of hair; an anxious habit of hers. She bit her lip, taking in a shaky breath. Trying to mentally prepare herself for whatever might come next. “…I.. um..” Another pause as Susie freezed up again.
“I can’t.. I can’t look you in the eye, because I don’t want to see the disappointment that’s going to be written on your face.. I know- I know as killers we have jobs to do. Striking fear as the legion is our personal job.. and I don’t want to see how disappointed you are when I tell you I’ve been failing to do exactly that. Harming people? Sure.. I don’t like it, but for you guys? I’ll do it. Killing? I can’t! Not anymore..”
There it is. Lately, Susie hasn’t been killing the survivors in her trial. Opting for just letting them go. Looking down in shame, Susie wouldn’t be surprised if the Legion was treated as some laughingstock because of her.
