Even with the brim of his hat casting shadows, the desert sun still made him squint at his surroundings. Inez had been slowed to a walk. There was no need for the galloping of many hooved feet to give their arrival away when they would be at the location soon. Some profligate, as the Legion had called him, was known to be in the area and needed to be dealt with, and with the green light to kill, Warren had set out immediately to complete the bounty.
The difference between this time and any of his past jobs was that he had company.
“ Remind me again, why'd you come along with me? ” His head turned ever so slightly to glance over his shoulder to the one behind him. For most of the journey all of the noise and talking was drowned out, and the only replies from the bounty hunter were halfhearted at best. Though it was getting harder to ignore.
“ And repeat whatever the hell it was that ya just asked. ”
