Would calling someone who identifies as agender and prefers they/them "it" be misgendering them? Also are the they/them pronouns grammatically correct?
Calling anyone "it" unless they've specifically asked you to call them that is rude in ANY situation regardless of gender or pronouns. But yes, if someone asks you to use a certain set of pronouns and you use a different one that's misgendering.
The grammar of singular they/them has been constantly debated back and forth, but it shouldn't really matter because any decent person cares more about the comfort of other people than about grammar rules.
